Fantastic!!
What your doing with these old race cars is awesome. The ford scene needs more people like you
Whats the plan for the thundersaloon then? I quite like the look of this one - not usually keen on them at all, but it does look mint.

Well done Martin !
The cars one of the Nigel Musthill /Brian Chatfield cars that ran in the British GT c/ship in 91/92 , almost never finsihed if i recall , the results are available on the web . the Chatfield Thundersaloon was an ex Rouse car as well , the rear floors pulled up by a couple of inches to aid the rollcentre, this car ran in Formula saloons and is currently being restored , looks like all the british cars are coming home !

a few pics of the up and down bits as requested.
its the original bristow labatts sierra rs500 ex btcc car
dont know how long brian had it but it has race slips on the roll bar up to 98 for uk tracks
so has had a lot of changes from its original spec,
all the rear suspention is different and looks quite trick with different bars
rear brakes are now bigger @ 330 by 25m
fronts are still 330 by 34m
rear boot floor has been raised and the rear inner arches are now tubbed, but its been done very well so looks good,
once running again i will give it a try on track.

not on the weigh bridge, not that accuate,
my mate at xsport has a set of corner scales,
so we will see
i have said that if its under 950kilos, i may give it a race next year,
must be quite light as its got full carbon panels,
which is the lightest and most exspensive to make,
the doors are mad light with full carbon skins,
carbon tailgate
bonnet
front wings
rear quarters
side bodykit
front bumper is total work of art to get it to this weght and full carbon with molded 500 spliter weighs nothing compared to a geniune 500 bumper.

all the mods and parts were done by lawrence bristow when he was racing it in the thunder saloons, after it finished in the btcc,
it was very suscessfull by all accounts and was the best handling sierra
even tony from turbo systems said it was very fast and won allmost everything and had a lot of money spent of it to get it like this,
and he raced against it!

i know this car D89XVX !!
he had a standard genuine rs500 road car and he then put the thunder saloon kit on it,
it was never finished and had no more mods on it and was never a race car, than just the big kit fitted he had it moddled of a gartrac kit, done in full carbon,
it had standard bonnet and tailgate and normal doors so just the front wings and rear quarters,
i know because i bought it of rick a few years back, still unfinished,
kept the engine and a few otehr parts and then sold it on, as it was.
dont know whot ever happened to it after this,
it was build no 7 or no8 from memory one of the early press cars.

I use to leave going to Oulton and donny to see the thunder saloons
If memory serves me right wasnt one of the listerine cars had its engine changed to a big block chevy and painted black with flames ?
Also I think one of the Trackstar cars ended up with a flat 6 porsche engine in it which im sure was built by getrag ????
Also I wonder what happened to some of the other cars including:
White Carlton V8 driven by John Cleland and Pete Stevens
The Stars and Stripes V8 Manta 400
Cossy engined Opel Astra (mk3 4door similar to a belmont)
Mazda RX7 with either a Cossy or V8 in it
Fast cars project 309
And has Rod Birley still got the Armour All Prelude ???
