THE OTHERHALFS NEW MOTOR............non rs
Well, After persuading her to get a Ford last year ( RS2000 4x4 ) she said it would have to be something special for her to even think of selling due to growing to love the the 2000.........................
Well a car she did have her eye on was a Astra GSI Turbo, but she would only ever consider one if it had the following :
FULL HEATED LEATHER
ZENONS & HEADLIGHT WASHERS
PARKING SENSORS
ELECTRIC ROOF
ARDEN BLUE
we have only ever seen one with the bits but wasnt blue
Anyway me been me, i was surfing the net and stumbled upon the following :
ASTRA GSI TURBO
21,000 miles
Arden blue, ew,em,es/r,a/c and all the usual gsi refinements.
£4500 of factory Extras including; full heated recaro leather, xenon headlights with washers, parking sensors,Electric sunroof, anti dazzle mirror and rain sensitive wipers. Irmscher arm rest( RARE ),grill, door pins handbrake cover and backbox.
full vauxhall service history, plus 12 extra oil changes( Fully stamped and recorded! ).
The car also has Eibach Suspension, courtney boost pipes, courtney bigger intake pipe, bailey dumpvalve.
Anyway a few phone calls later and a quick trip upto Middlesborough, the car is now sat on the drive!
Few quick pics
THE ONLY UPSETTING THING IS THE 31,000 MILE RS2000 4X4 IS GOING UP FORSALE

I know, it's another Irmcher item, but the original back box also came with the car. Caroline preferes the standard backbox, but i rekon a nice stainless system would go down a treat
She'll put her own stamp on it soon, but the car is minty mint

My mk5 Astra has the slighlty tweeked version of the same engine with a cat back exhaust and it does make a nice noise, they can be fettled with to around the 300bhp mark , but i think its a little pointless in a fwd car.
They are reliable tho , the only prob i know of is somtimes the MAF sensor can pack up on them, usually when they've been mapped to within an inch of there life.

The car is lowered 30mm now on Eibachs, this pic is the only one we've taken:
the others are by the previous owner before it was lowered.
The car sits right when you see it compared to a std one!

Hate to upset FRS owners , but a friend who owns a FRS drove the Astra last night and said it was a far nicer car ( due to the internal luxuries ) and pulled stronger than his STD FRS
Must admit, i'd have to agree
The only thing he'd miss would be the torque steer

Good luck with it....
I had an astra 2.2 sri earlier this year... handled like a sodding boat on the motorway...... had it 3 months and absolutely HATED IT!
Vauxhalls are in no way, driver's cars......

Ive had a Mk 4 Astra with a cailbra Turbo lump in (300BHP & AWSOME ) and ive had a 2.2 SRI ( I AGREE SHITE ), but the GSI Turbo is an awsome all rounder
If i had a choice of
FRS
ASTRA GSI TURBO
GOLF GTI TURBO
I'd have to choose the Astra and thats me saying something as two days ago i'd of said FRS everytime!
Mind you, i guess your not a proper driver if your used to the Fiesta ST

Thanks for the words XRdodgybird It was in fact driving the boyfriends old 'boats' that made me want the Astra GSi, and in my eyes, this is very much a drivers car as is all the other Vauxhall's i have owned.
I'm loving every second of it, and i can't stop smiling when i drive it, and even when i look at it. Just gutted the 2k is going to have to go
Not sure what i'm going to do with the exhaust yet
Thanks, Caroline.

WOW!!!
That is one good looking Astra you've got yourself there!
I think the colour is absolutely stunning!
If you ever get bored of it, I'll do you a swap deal with my Astra.
Ideally I'd want a bit of cash my way to be honest, but as you're a mate we could just do a straight swap!

Very nice cars, looks nice caroline! My mate p'xd his in about 2 months ago, with exactly the same spec (hes a sales manager at vauxhall). Only reason he swapped it is cos he got a 300bhp VXR for a very good price!

James, where did you dig this post from?!!!!!
I am very tempted to do a swop, but i could only give you about 1k in swop, is that enough? I've always fancied a car that's done that higher milleage
Karl treat me, and the car to a new pressie at Christmas, my own plate!!
And no, it's not the headlights that are steamed up, my brother bought me some headlight protectors for Christmas and they steam up every time it's washed!
Yep, you've got a new job for me, could do with the Astra in the sig, but don't want to get rid of the escort
As for why the car has had so many extra oil changes i can't answer that, he must have ad OCD as James has pointed out
Thanks to all for your nice comments.
Caroline.

No Max, Karl didn't tell me you helped him on the plate, he likes to take all the glory on things I think we both owe you plenty of drinks for the amount you do for us
