Youre right except all the Mondeos from Day one ran V6's based on the Mazda 2.5litre engine the KL , this was stroked and messed around with to make it 2.0litre. The later cosworth engines from 97/98 were cut into 52 seperate pieces and re-welded to achieve the height and crank position, also to encourage the valve tracts into the right place , works of art ,The nearside Driveshaft ran through the V of the motor to get the centre of gravity right ! Sadly now all buried in a Hole in Boreham !

Was going to say I thought that the engine's were basically sleeved down V6's

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
In the last couple of seasons they did when prodrive got hold of them. But it was really only ford and vauxhall (think there was another but can't remember) that entered in them days. The mk2's look mint with there almost michellin pilot colour scheme
