Hi,
This is something new we are trialling. can your mobile device not simply announce itself as a PC? Most can, and that disables the mobile site in your browser.

I just looked too, safari has no settings that do what you said.

It aint just this site tho... ebay does it auto aswell. Its just a bandwidth saver, but to be fair, i'd rather enjoy a full site.

It's sh**e for Private messaging, you also cant leave feedback on trader status either when using Iphone. I prefer it how it used to be.

is it possible to disable it for a certin user name? i.e mine?
Thanks

iPhone users should have normal PF back now. Please test.

I would be interested to know what OS people are having issues with?

That mobile "Crap" is far more suitable for teh majority of members. We need to strike a balance here which is what I am trying to do with all ths carefully worded feedback from the members.

windows mobile 6.1 with opera mobile 9.5 brouser.

Getting the mobile version, and had no issues before using the full web version.

The main issue is the view all the posts and quotes are hard to work out which is which, and the fact you have to click each picture link for it to show, oh and no quote reply. Lastly the text in replys goes off the screen and i cant scroll to see it whilst typing, text box to large?

As said an option to switch it would be a great idea?

for example works here, http://www.xda-developers.com/

Alot of the mobile sites, i.e Symbian sites, have that option.... but looking at the boardheader bar on PF, there aint much room to put it... but then saying that, i suppose it could be added to the Site Navigation block on the portal easily enough. Best of both worlds then.... and all that coding hasnt gone to waste

Is there not the way to add a link to PF Mobile while running the standard PF site like Fil described earlier. Thats how loads of sites do it now, including wastebook.

Noooooooo

As above, anyway there can be an option so that i can switch it over myself via the phone?

If all else fails is it possible to have a big old fashioned poll in GD, and see if it stays or whether it goes completely?

Given we serve over 790 Million pages to nearly 50 million people every month, I am in a position to say there IS a problem for a LOT of people on a LOT of sites. Just look how many are complaining about the new way, compared to the old way. FAR less complaints now, so if we can have less negativity and less smart comments from people who think they know whats best for 50 million people we can get on with trying to tweak it the best we can for now. We can look at making it user selectable in the future, but for now it isn't and its not a priority so if people can explain what phone and OS they have and why its now an issue, we can look at ways to improve what we now have.

if that was aimed at me your wrong I've posted a constructive post in the appropriate forum section. there was no smart comments just facts. i have never been on a forum were there is a post asking for a mobile version of the site as in this day and age most phones are more than capable of handling a normal site.so there for no need for a mobile version which is why i said that passion ford tried to solve a problem that didn't exist because by doing so has caused a problem.to which you have obviously taken offence

Sorry Stu but with respect..... PMSL !

You have had sensible input and suggestions on what the USERS would like.. I.E. The choice !
This is by far the easiest solution to implement and keeps everone happy !

I bet if I was put in charge of this task, I would get it done quicker ..

In fact, coding this would take a good programmer less than 30 minutes to write, test and upload it !

As for 50 million people using this site..... What have you been smoking ?!!
