P.S. Just a remoinder, I have asked several moderators about changing my name back to Flux Capacitor

I wanted to re-state this as I suspect when my new website is lauched this weekend, the name may be considered a trade name mistakenly by yourself or others.

I would like to keep the existing one but have no problem in changing it if I am required to do so.

Thanks

Just release it GNU and you may discover somebody who has something to offer you from the start?

LIke who ?

I am sure if there was such a person, he would have helped by now.
(in a technical context of course)

I have explained that I cannot do that because GNU states that full and complete source code has to be included.

One of the librarys I have used does not allow me to distribute source code and in fact there isnt any available publically.
However, the compiled objects of that library are free to use and distribute.

Also, I do not want it all in the public domain until such time as the project is complete.
The sofwtare to use and distribute will be 100% free.
Having or not having the source code doesnt change that fact in the slightest.

Not interested in getting involved in Passionford Politics Simon, it was merely a question. Remember though the internet is bigger than Passionford.

Simon,
Regarding your request for a name change back to "Flux Capacitor", please note that your request has not been ignored and that FYI because this name was originally allocated to yourself, the computer does not allow us to change it back, stating that "the name is already taken".

If you want point of proof of this, check "Maria" out (oh er ), she changed her name (to "Messenger"), and then went to change it back to her old user name ("Maria"), but could not, so she had to add an additional character to enable the computer to allow this . You would have to do the same.

Hope this clarifies .

Simon has already been informed of this Mike, he is just intentionally causing a scene.

Again.

Mike, thanks for clearing that up.

Again.

Stu,
With respect you are mistaken.
I was NOT aware of the detail that the exact user name could not be reused until Mike commented above.
In fact when I asked Markyd3 and Twellsie all I got told was that the "system wouldnt allow it" and that they would need to consult youself to sort it out.
I havent heard anything since that point and I am sure the moderators concerned will back that up.

In fact, I asked again on this thread just to make sure as no one has got back to me officially but all you can do is give non helpful reply yet again showing there is bias against me. IMO

As you consider me a trader and my new FREE website is about to launch that has a common name with my user name, I thought I would make sure that everyone knew that I would be happy to change my name to ensure I didnt break the rules and that no one could use the excuse to add more infraction points.

I therefore ask that you please change my user name to Flux Capacitor.

(My original name with a point on the end)

Thanks.

My point was, you already knew that your username couldnt be given back, so there was no need to tell the public all about it, all you had to do, was choose another name.

Now you have done so its been changed.

well the way i see this as an outsider and not a trader

1.) even if simons software is free and i was to get a copy for me to see what my ecu was doing ??? then i would be interested in switching thing on/off (which i do believe is the bit he needs to ammend)
2.) as much as i know about engines and software and dyno's etc i still wouldn't try and map a ecu myself so this version of the software would be useless
3.) i would always take my car / seak info about software chip ecu's etc from a reputable company anyway

so i really don't see why any more than a test version is needed of this software so as far as i can see the only real people to benefit from what simon is doing is the mappers / company's that do mapping but surely for the price the chip company's can supply software like this for it wouldn't be any use to them either because the software they use again will be tried and tested stuff not just something someone knocked up in his spare time lol

so imho this thread and all related articles should just be deleted and forgotten about and if simon whats to go ahead with this then let him set up website and advertise on a google search or even pay for an advert on here once he's finished the software and website etc

BUT that is just imho

thanx alain

Stu,
I didnt know that as I stated above
I asked two moderators who told me they were going to refer it to yourself.
As I didnt hear anything and had already contacted site staff already, I just added it to a thread I knew you were watching as it was connected to the whole matter.

I hope that finally explains this !!! Thanks for taking time and changing it

Alain,
The point of the software is to include many things you need.
If there is something you dont need or want then dont use it ..simple !!

You have not understood the point of the trading issue.

The software, is 100% freeware, anyone can use it for personal and comercial use without any charge or reward back to myself.
I have said I will not or ever will sell this in any shape or form.
With this in mind, I should not need to nor can I afford to place any advertising anywhere.

It does have its own website now but thats just because the volume of information I have and the amount of discussion that will be created initially will probably not be in all users interests on this site so it made sense to start a new home.
There isnt any adverts on this site and there never will be !!!!

This software project is now as I first intended it to be, all free, and with the help and suggestions from anyone, I can improve it for the benfit of all that use it.
Some users like talking about how engines work, I like electronics and software on cars as do many others on here and I am being discriminated against IMO.
Its all enthusiasm, nothing else.

if you need to do some magic trickery to make the code your own,and then GNU,why not just not talk about this until you have done this,THEN do the deal and distribute it for free?
