Default Clarification on the rules please?

I put a post up in response to a question asking how much something cost.

The question was the price of an Adrenalin rear beam, to which I replied something along the lines of:

Last time I enquired they were

Stage 1 750 Squid including Valued Added Tuna
Stage 2 998 Squid including Valued Added Tuna
Race 1998 Squid including Value Added Tuna
Outright is 150 squid extra, as those prices are based on exchange.
And all of their beams come blasted and powder coated included in the price.

I dont know if these prices are current though

Now this to me seemed like a perfectly reasonable answer to a question, I didnt even include contact details for adrenalin, I just answered a question about how much something cost that was asked by another forum member.

What are the rules on this, as I assume I must have broken one but im unsure which even after reading the rules?

Surely people are allowed to ask each other how much things cost?
We've reguarly hard topics about the price of local petrol for example.

Some clarity on exactly what the problem is would be appreciated.

I havent put this in the policies and problems section because its not about policy, its about a rule (as far as im aware the two are different) and I havent PM'd it as I beleive it will be of interest to more people than just me to see what the situation is here.

Thanks for any info the webteam can give on this.

Chip

P.S
I realise I have reposted something similar to that which was deleted, but I have done so only as it constitutes an example, and to prevent it being seen as an advert I have changed the price to be in terms of seafood instead of pounds sterling so as to hopefully avoid any problems with this post.

I got no infraction informing me I had broken any rule
I got no PM informing me my post was deleted

I have read the rules regarding selling several times, and at NO point can I find anything saying that you arent allowed to reply to someone asking what an item costs from a company you have nothing at all to do with commerically.

Chip you can't talk to an Ex Moderator like that you'll be hanged & banned

This place is getting all to serious and over moderated very quickly for my liking

some of the new rules are good but most are just more power for the moderators to inflict

you dare not use the freedom of speech incase you get told off or worse sent to the head master office!

Oh right, well I hear of knife attacks on a daily basis too, so I guess that makes those ok as well then

If I was a moderator it would leave me less time free for replying to queries, which I think I can provide more input to the site doing than by moderating which there are plenty of people who can do but couldnt answer technical queries, so I dont think it serves the site best for me to apply, so havent done so.

Ok, although if it was removed mistakenly, a quick PM to explain that, would cut out on a lot of hassle.

Oh and you can all fuck off with the sarky comments about the new rules too. You really think we begged Stu to rewrite them to and i quote

"but most are just more power for the moderators to inflict"

Cos that how it sounds to me

It states why they were rewritten in the stickies at the top of the page

Clarification is as follows Chip:

If you are an ex mod you can use baiting and un-nesassary comments - espescially towards pensioners.

You can put up a request post such as this asking why something got deleted and when the mods realise they messed it up, they will of course say it was deleted by accident - so as not to loose face

Apologies Chip.
One of the newer mods totally missunderstood one of the rules and moved your post. Its going to happen from time to time whilst these new mods find their feet as its a lot to take in quickly. Bear with them all please whilst they settle into the role and continue to keep this place running on your behalf.

Good lord. Grow up eh people, its like dealing with small children here sometimes. There is nothing in the rules that would bother a single decent member and that is proved here:

Look at all those complaints. Aren't the rules terrible.
You lot genuinely don't discuss the rules in the right place because you know you will be shot down by those why do actually understand the rules and know how a forum works. Instead you like to slip little comments in here there and everywhere instead. the topic is there, I Will see you over there if you have anything to say about the rules, though I note you all waited until after they were made official instead of beforehand like everyone else. Wonder why?

It wasnt the mistake that touched a nerve chip, seeing as you hadnt got a PM from the mod who did it i think you are entitled to ask

It was the usual bollocks about power crazed mods etc, truth hurts
