In marks case, he posts a total of 1.12 times a day, and often those posts are as a direct result of his customers asking him to come onto their thread to give some techy info they cant do themselves as they dont understand it well enough and want the right info.

I would hardly say that constitutes not being busy elsewhere, posting on here once a day on average.

Personally in fifteen minutes browsing on this forum, I can easily make 20 posts (or 3 weeks worth at his current post average for mark) and many of those will be of a long or technical nature too, not just the odd smiley.

So I really dont think you have a point AT ALL their Martin mate to be honest!

What a fucking joke. If the 'owners' and "moderators" cant see how stupid this board is starting to look then go ahead and enjoy the sinking ship that it is becoming.

Nik, fair play to you. IMHO take your posts over to Pistonheads or the otherfordforum where you can share your achievement with others who might be interested.

Given all Mark has to endure with accusations regarding his dyno numbers being faked etc - Im not surprised he doesn't pay to be a trader.

Maria - which moderator felt it appropriate to delete the thread?

Vikingboy - if you feel so strongly. fet in touch with stu. he will listen to everything you have to say.

And there really is no need for you to know who removed it. they were simply doing as they have been asked to. thats all.

if you dont like the way the site is run, simple really, dont come on it. There really is no need for you to be winding yourself up the way you are.

Are you going to start another poll?

If the other traders feel that they are loosing business to Mark then why not build faster and better cars and "win" that business? Mark is hardly king of advertising is he now!?

I'd love to see a Ford 30-130 day - if a car of Marks won would its numbers not be printed here for fear of other tuners loosing business to an "unauthorised trader"?

The amount of free advice that guy gives away is beyond me. He probably wastes half his day talking to people telling them how to fix their problems and not making money as he should be. This board could learn a lot from him IMHO.

I think the point he was making was that the above might become common place. Hence "sinking ship...." and that helps no-one, including the people wanting to make money off adverts etc.

Vikingboy, you are missing the point, if Rod does 206mph or whatever in his car and says "Ive done 206mph in my MA Developments powered cosworth" then that is fine and would be allowed to stay, so ones of Mark's cars winning isnt a problem on here, its only a problem if Mark himself mentions it.

By ALL MEANS complain about the rules, but at least try and understand them first, at the moment you just look like you are ranting.

10 hour days for 11 days straight?

Fucking hell, you must earn a FORTUNE then, like 600 quid a month or something?

I dont have anything to say to Stu that I wouldnt post in an open forum. My point is here for him to come and read if he is interested. So now we have a secret moderating team - great, gestapo moderation. I dont see why the mod needs to hide behind his anonymity or is he employed by one of Marks competitors?

And as for starting another poll, there is no need too in this acse - any idiot can see how fucking stupid deleting Nicks post was. Why not just request / and or edit the bits you felt were strong advertisements? Dont hold it against me Maria - I felt you inappropriately handled the other thread as I said at the time. Nothing against you personally - just didnt like the way you handled the other thread and I made that clear at the time.

Vikingboy, its NEVER been part of the rules of PF that every single action performed by each mod has to be accounted to them individually.

If so many people start to leave that it effects the advertising revenue generated from the site and the gold membership fees collected enough, then IB will react to that change in market conditions im sure.

I would imagine they are FAR more aware of the effects of forum policy on revenue earned than any of us, we're just here for the cars and people, they are here PURELY for the money, and you would be underestimating them to think they dont know what they are doing IMHO

Sorry I miss the point and maybe because I missed the original thread too but as far as I understand, Nik comes on to say he did 180mph in his Capri and the thread is deleted for advertising?
Does it really matter who reports facts?

That should rule out anyone ever asking mark to advertise on here again, because my sig is FAR better than a banner advert because:

A) It actually appears on this site MORE often in serious technical threads than ANY of the banner traders ads do

B) It appears right in the middle of the action, NOT hidden away in the header that most people just scroll past without taking much notice of

C) Unlike the banner ads which can be bought by any numpty, appearing in my Sig means that you have been selected by an expert industry professional (thats me by the way) as the single greatest source of technical advice and professional services available in the ford community.

D) Its a significantly larger % of page real estate per page than any banner advert is, especially when repeated 6 times a page like on many technical threads

Its quite literally, the advertising space that money CANT BUY, only respect can

IB don't run the site to generate the fee's paid by the users but I'm sure they are welcome all the same.

They run the site IMHO for reasons included but not limited to the following:
1) to get income from paid up members
2) to get income from paid up traders
3) to expose their own targeted advertising engine to a larger audience
4) to gain exposure for thier own brand
5) to stop someone else having control of this valuable bit of web real estate

(not in order of importance)

Im sure there are more reasons too, would you like to add some of your own martin if you know much about it?

That seems fair enough Martin. Its just a shame a warning wasnt given this time and the thread left - a yellow card offence if you like.
I'm sure now Mark knows the score he wont contravene PF regulations again.

This place is becoming more and more ridicillious as the weeks go by. I am not using my signature at the moment, so if anyone wants to advertise in it they can. I reckon I move around this forum more than anyone. Mind you, I do post more shit than anyone, ha.

Seriously, I can't believe how this forum is going.

Ive just looked into this, and its easily summed up by the one solitary member who has read the forum rules.

Yes, it seems Mark started his own topic to advertise his new engine, that is against the trading rules, as you can clearly see here.

11. Selling items as a trader.
Members either known to be, or considered by the webteam to be traders must be registered as official passionford traders and have paid the current fee to be able to enter any sale advertisements whatsoever on the forum or be registered with a business name. Registration is also required in order to reply to wanted adverts.

In addition to this, because a Trade user will build up a level of trust and trade recognition within the community, they will no longer be allowed to trade on passionford or retain their trade name if they chooses to withdraw their trade status and site support. This is to stop unscrupulous traders registering for a few months and then trading for free on the back of the status built up in that time. The selling ban for ex-traders includes offering items for sale in signatures and posts as well as replying to wanted adverts.

Mark DOES know the rules as he has told me he would be paying many times over the years. This is NOT personal, these are just the site rules, its quite simple.

Stu, if Nik starts his own thread and people ask technical questions regarding the engine and Mark answers them, will the thread be binned?

Thanks, Benni.

Given they served 37 Million people with 620million pages in June this year (a staggering 20.67 million pages per day!), id say it would be underestimating them greatly... lol

Why wasn't the thread deleted in the first place, as I'm sure it wasn't created this week?

Seems to be so much bitching and pettyness on this forum lately, shame as its pushing people away.

Still, well done to Nik for doing 180+ in a Capri !!

Were the rules in place when the thread was started?

As if not it seems a bit harsh on Nik that he has lost the thread about his car, simply cause the rules on who starts a thread have changed?

Rules on advertising have, but interpreting those rules to mean that if a tuner mentions something he did for someone its an advert, is certainly a new approach to them dont you agree?

Looking for a resolution here, would you temporarily re-instate the thread to somewhere accessible by one of us so that we can copy accross the key info to another thread?

No they havent. A Tuner has NEVER been able to START a topic advertising his own work on these forums. It goes against ALL the rules that i wrote for the forum years ago. Nothing new has been added or taken away. Maybe IB have us enforce them more now as they are better businessmen than Me, but the rules are the same.

That said, let me go and actually look at and read this topic so i can see what the fuss is about.
