any peugeot techies in?...... saga continues
anyone with any idea what the fuck is wrong with my mums french turd,
its a 206 1.1 2005 model, its developed a massive misfire, like the timing is out, yet it has a strong spark on every cylinder, compression is within 4 psi of eachother on every cylinder, fuel is getting through and its showing no fault codes, she initially took it to a garage which diagnosed it as a burnt valve so ive even gone as far to swap the engine, ant put a new coil pack on yet its exactly the same as it was, and im at my whits end with the poxy thing,
any ideas greatly appreciated before i throw a match in the fucking thing!!!
thanks
liam

Their pretty wank cars tbh but the main issues are the totally shit multiplex wiring, this fails all the time.
Have you tried the obvious like removing a plug lead off each cylinder to see if the miss goes?
Or an injector plug to see if it's a fuelling issue.
Beyond that it could be a garage jobbie,or scrap it and get a polo or something.

Has the car been serviced recently? Things to check first are remove the spark plugs, if it has NGK plugs fitted replace them, I don't know why but these cars won't run with NGKs .
If you have further issues they do have problems with fuel injectors, basically cyl 4 (cyl one to you boys) is the most common, but this would cause a constant misfire, if this is the case, you can swap the injector with another cyl and see if the misfire moves.
Other than that they aint all that bad, they certainly don't rot like fords and earn me a living.

I gave the engine a full belt service while it was out the car, the plugs are champion anyway, I'll go through the injectors tomoro mate thanx, and i will say though i think its a terrible car, horrible build quality, terrible electrics, horrible gearbox, shit drive, asthmatic and quite possibly the most uneconomical 1.1 I've ever come across but that's only my opinion

It's hardlys going to be the injectors if it's the same in the new engine unless you put the old injectors in.
And regards to Ngk plugs what a load of shit all I use is ngk plugs and never had one bit of bother with them.
Is your car the model which has the big multi plug under ther battery or around that area? They are prone to getting wet as they're quite open to the elements.

Right, tonight I started by removing each injector plug one by one and starting it up, I found that 1 and 4 wasn't working, so I removed the rail to confirm and found that both were squirting a tiny bit for the initial start but not as much as 2 and 3 then nothing when cranking but 2/3 were fine so I swapped them all around to check the injectors but they all worked in 2/3 but not 1/4, so now im thinking if they both squirt for start up cycle then nothing then the injectors are getting a signal so can't be the wiring, gotta be the ecu surely?
Any thoughts anyone?

Does sound like ecu to me. I use bba reman, they should be able to test and repair if needed to save on recoding etc.
I have had a coil pack blow which has caused the ecu to be damaged before on these.

Your talkin sh** now
If the car has a misfire then there should be some sort of fault codes. You have done a compression test and its OK. Is it when you accelerate that you get the misfire or is it all the time. First thing first make sure you have a good earth from engine to body. Some coil packs that have square ends can be faulty too/ Injector No1 (timing belt side)/ Manifold pressure sensor/Throttle sensor. If you have faulty wiring you'd have a fault code. If it was my car I'd get it on a peugeot computer and get some live data and see what its doing. The 1.1 petrol is basic enough. Have fun

Hi again everyone, im afraid im here begging for more info,
It turned out to be the ecu and I bought a replacement with keys clocks and some little fuse box thing but the bloke didn't send me the transponder, now is this like on fords and needs to be changed with the ecu or does it just read the code and tell the ecu in whhich case I would be able to use the one on the car,
Thanks once again
Liam

Do you mean the transponder on the key or the antenna around the ignition barrel?
If it's the antenna then it's a total myth that it has to be changed on any car. All it does is read the transponder in the key and send the signal back to the ECU.
