OCD has set in for sure, its getting worse too, i keep finding other things to do which take me hours and hours but very little to show for it, the vast majority of the work i've done will never be seen !!!

It looks a lot better than i imagined, i've gone a lot further than i initially planned but thats often the case when renovating or modifying....

I'm really hoping i get it all done before the spring of next year, it will be nearly 2 years off the road by that point and many hundreds of hours of work put into it, i hope its all worth it ??

Got some parts from the powdercoater today, top quality coverage and finish from the fella i use....

FRONT SUBFRAME

FRONT BRAKE CALIPERS

FRONT ARB

FRONT BRAKE DISC SHIELD & REAR ARCH BRACKETS

(LOVELY METALLIC FINISH ON THE BRAKE SHIELDS)

FRONT SUSPENSION SPRINGS (FROM MY TEINS)

LOWER SHOCK MOUNTING (FROM TEIN GREEN TO KAWASAKI GREEN)

FRONT HUBS

FRONT FLITCH BARS

ALTERNATOR CASINGS

There looks a lot of red there, but it will look just like the rear end - a mixture of red against the white chassis and also lots of chrome bolts and polished suspension parts.

I'm just waiting for the bolts that hold everything together to come from the chromers and also the suspension arms are getting chromed just like the rear end has been done.

cheers

Andy

Picked up a few bits and pieces from the platers today so i can get cracking on putting the front suspension and steering rack back together, then get the car back on to its wheels again.

VARIOUS POWER STEERING PIPEWORK / RAD BRACKETS etc

BIG BOX OF PLATED BOLTS TO GET THE FRONT END BACK TOGETHER

PLATE I HAD MADE UP TO COVER UP BRAKE PIPES / FUEL LINES UNDER THE CAR

FRONT SUSPENSION WISHBONES READY FOR POLYBUSHING.

Made a start re-assembling the front end, spent 12 hours today in the garage !!!!

Put on the front subframe... with nice shiny bolts.

Including the Front ARB and Polbushes - notice the chromed ARB clamp...:coolsm:

Also fitted the bracket that the power steering lines attach to....(chromed :handsup.

Fitted the steering rack - just waiting for the new drumsticks to come back from the plater - got new gaitors to go on aswell and new track rod ends - The steering will be nice and tight again now.
The steering rack clamp has - you guessed it - been chromed...:coolsm:

I re-painted the steering rack to make it look nice and shiny.

Including polished steering lines.....

RS brake bias block, ABS has been removed....

Clutch line bracket (chromed)

Brake servo, decided to paint it white.....

Then i re-assembled the front calipers, fitted new seals, new bleed nipples and new banjo bolts, just got to fit the transfer pipe when i get it back from the platers....:smthumbup

and finally i assembled the front hubs ready to go on....

had a very good day, did quite a lot, i will do a bit more tomorrow...

cheers

Andy

Thanks very much, a real labour of love and a long hard slog.

I've got a few plans for it yet, but i'm keeping that to myself for now.

All will be revealed once i've 100% decided.

cheers

Done some more work today....

(SORRY ABOUT THE CRAP PICS, IT WAS TOO DARK IN THE GARAGE TODAY SO I HAD TO USE THE FLASH AND THE PICS DIDN'T COME OUT TOO WELL).

Fitted the front wishbones along with the polybushes.....

Fitted the front droplinks - thanks Paul (neverneverman)....

Re-assembled the Tein front struts, notice i had the tops and the bottoms done in Kawasaki green just to be a little different, also the top mount assembly was chromed... and the spring coated red.

( I will get the rear Tein's done the same in a week or so).

Fitted the braided brake lines....

Steering rack new gaitors and also had the "drumsticks" chromed, also the hard fluid pipework was chromed....

Fitted the brake lines and clutch lines from master cylinder, had them chromed....

Had the transfer pipe on the front brembos chromed just to add a little contrast....

I will do some more tomorrow, hopefully it will get back on its wheels on Monday (not anywhere near ready for the road yet though).

cheers

Did just a little bit more today, not as much as i'd liked to do as i had to fix the fridge today and put new droplinks and ARB bushes on my missus's fiesta...

Anyhow, i fitted the front brembos and put the discs back on (although they are being replaced with 2 piece discs before it gets on the road....- so forgive the mankiness of them in the pics.... ).

Just waiting on some split conduit to arrive and some P clips then i'll sort out the wiring that was re-routed....

I ordered some track rod ends from Ebay, they came and were wrong so i got a refund and ordered from Camskill, should get them tomorrow so i'll fit them tomorrow.

Its been a right pain trying to assemble everything without scratching things and chipping the powdercoat, i've had to "touch up" a couple of places, i suppose it can't be helped.....

normally you'd just "persuade" things to go in with a light tap with a hammer, but I can't do that so its taken twice as long putting things back together.

More pics tomorrow.....

cheers

Cheers folks, i did a couple of hours in the garage today whilst the weather was dry...

I fitted the rear bumper (just temporary as its coming off again so i can get the bumper bar powdercoated).....

Now i can see what the rear end looks like.

I also fitted the front "flitch bars" which i had powdercoated, I know you can't see them once the front wings are on but what the heck, why not !!

And here's a random pic of the front end ready to accept the engine.

I will get the front wings, the side skirts and the rear arch extensions back on this week so it will start to look like a car again, pic will, as always, follow.

cheers
