Escort 1.6 si [ idle problems ]
Hi
I have just bought a R Reg 1.6si and it seems to have some sort of idle problems ! when i first get in it in the morning it starts as normal [sometimes sounds as if its going to die but doesnt ] , then as soon as i drive off its like the throttle sticks and goes up to about 3000rpm so i put my foot on the clutch and it goes up a little more but quickly drops back to normal from what i can make out as it starts to warm up its fine , but if i stop for say half hour it does it all over again .
Any help or suggestions would be great
Many thanks

Thats definitely the ISCV mate - sits underneath the throttle boddy (attached to inlet manifold at the back)
They are Ł90 ish brand new from Ford so try and clean yours first if possible. Sounds like the runner rail inside is full of crap. Clean with Carb cleaner (the none residue type i.e. Wynns). Once you are happy its clean, throw it back on and start her up. If it doesnt fix it by cleaning then its a new ISCV mate.
