Default zetec tuning?

i have a 1.6 escort zetec, wondering about what route to take as far as mild engine tuning goes. im looking towards induction kit, full ashley exhaust system and piper cam n chip kit. is there anythin to avoid and also what sort of power figures should i expect with these?

It is a complete waste of time tuning the 1.6 ZETEC. Even if you fitted throttle bodies and an aftermarket ECU you would still only have 125bhp. Fit a standard 2.0 ltr ZETEC and you get 136 bhp. Do the maths.

its not as pointless as that.

a 1.6 focus (black top zetec) on throttles made 165 bhp but your still prob better off with a 2.0l an a few mods

http://mikeanics.co.uk/index.htm

take a look on there under throttle bodies. not really a big company but has a couple of prices.

for the power your after i dont think throttles is worth it as you will need new management and for the whole lot talkin over 2 grand for the lot for cheaper stuff.

google it to find some better companies though

induction wise if your after more power than noise your better off fitting a pannel filter and having a bigger feed pipe into the air box with the intake possitioned behind the grill. not sure how it is on the 1.6 escort as standard.

could also fit a bigger throttle body say off the 1.8 or 2.0. this would also suit a cam kit well, like a fast road cam or similar. then either a full system or cat back exhaust system and a remap. could see some nice power from all that. if you stayed with standard cams you could get bluefin.

To be fair, you'd be best off with a 1.6 Zetec-SE not a Zetec-E, if you wanted to keep it a 1.6

or at least the black top zetec out of a focus rather than the silver top out of the escort.

heard mixed results about the silver top but the black top gets all good...from what i've heard
