Default 748 / 916 buying advise

i'm looking to get another bike , used to have a cbr 600 , wouldn't mind another . but i can afford a ducati
i have noticed that a 916 is cheaper to buy than a 748 is this just because of insurance or is the 748 a better bike . any help and advise is greatful
thanks

Don't

Good bikes tbh.

They do need looking after and are only worth buying as a weekend toy imo.
The finish does not like our winter weather.

Great to ride thought

The 916 was launched in 64, the 748 not until circa 97.

Equivalent year bikes, the 748 is the cheaper poorer cousin.

I'd not own a 748 personally, no enough grunt. Only as quick as a 600

916/996/998/999 is the way ahead

buy a mille!!!!!!!!!!!!!!1are you on crack?
milles are the shittest bikes ever, trust me ive raced bikes since i was 17, a ducati has the best front end period, ive lapped the island at 23 mins on open roads on a stock 748sp one nite,in the dark as well.i kid you not. if you get a duke with correct electrics wave goodbye to your mates, trust me,i did, nothing compares to a ducati, they are truley awesome, just so unreliable if not maintained.

Sorry, but you're wrong Milles are fantastic bikes, especially the R

I'd have one over a 748 anyday.

a Ducati sound shit? ROFLMAO

You mean with stock exhausts, yes ? just like the Aprilia, then

Duke's have the most addictive sound ever, just as good as a Triumph 3 cylinder IMHO.
But the 748 lacks torque IMHO, and NO, it's not a better bike than a 916. A 916 has more torque, more power, and at lower revs, hence why it will break less easily If you buy a 916, take care of buying a post-1997 model, as before they have electrics probs. After 1997, they DON'T have any problems (please stop this silly legend about Ducatis being unreliable, or just think about our Cossies before speaking ).
Now, if you look for a everyday bike, then yes, a Mille is better. But that's the only situation where a Mille will be better than a 916. Oh and before you start to aggress me ( kidding ) i know the subject as I own at the moment 2 Ducatis : one 1000 SuperSport (bought it in 2003), and one 996 S (bought it in 1999), and I just sold my Aprilia RSV 1000 R which i bought NEW 5 months ago, just because it was soooo boring in terms of character.
And last point : a 916 (or 748,996, 998 or whatever) will be, forever, and for LOTS of persons, amongst the 5 most beautiful bikes ever created, period.

BTW, a Mille R does not have Ohlins all round, it's the Mille R Factory that has. And regarding Brembos, there never has been a Ducati that didn't have Brembo's all round...

As you can see my 2002 Mille R is fitted with Ohlins, Brembos, Oz wheels and a scantily clad blonde

Bet you don't get one of those with a Ducati

Pet, he's talking about the older Model Mille, not the RSV R.

Mille R's do come with Ohlins front & rear

then he should have precised it, because as English peeps seem to don't know, the word "Mille" means, in Italian and in French, "Thousand"

So RSV Mille R means RSV 1000 R; hence why the old or the new bike have always had the same name for the whole Europe except for you
