vtr1000 hands down. Chassis is far better, engine is far more interesting (a twin is always more interesting that a 4 cylinder IMHO, character-wise ) and one thing to take into account is that the Hornet 900 is a coffin with wheels : its chassis is REALLY dangerous, and lots of ppl will be able to confirm this.

firestorm,cak petrol consumption
hornet,de-tuned blade engine not what it should be
firestorm,good protection from weather
hornet,good looking bike

best ride either and see yourself,

id go for the storm, personally, lazy v-twin,with real road abilities despite its shite tank range, get a later model one with the bigger tank,150mph,7k new,14 ins rating.

hornet,132mph,6k new,11 ins rating.(if you pick this type,get the 1300 instead )141mph,6.6k new,13 ins rating+major BIG!!!!!!!!!!!!!

in the dealers i looked at a cb900 and cb1300 nice to look at but a 1300 i couldnt handle and i didnt like the location of the pipes on the hornet 900
they didnt have a storm in
vfr800 has caught my eye twas nice comfy sexy i've booked a test on one for saturday, bit dubious about the vtec thing and linked brakes but i'll see
absolutely packed full of new and second hand sportbikes though

service intervals and cost of them for your v-tec is pricey,,check-em out before committing to buying!

i had a vfr800 on loan twice when i had 2 ins claims last year

the vtec makes a crackin note

shame you use loads of petrol because you HAVE to take it above 7k each time to get the bark

reasonably quick too i suppose for the size and i saw 149 on the speedo on a nice wee country road

service costs,Ł800 every 12thou miles

pluss the little in-between services

then theres the boost of power at 7thou revs,on a wet roundabout, cranked over

honda mullered a good tourer !

i went to test it yesterday and it was v nice but nothing special, engine was strange they maintain good economy but not through the rev range comfy and good pillion and a good deal with panniers, topbox and abs but the dealer admited to the costs on the vtec engine service wise, too expensive, so next i'll be looking at a kawasaki zzr600, and other sports tourers
