tuning/modifying a bike????
I got a spare engine with my fireblade which has a hole in the bottom end with snapped rod poking out, gearbox, head and everything else is still good though. Its a 2001 Honda Fireblade 929 RRY.
Im thinking of getting the head fiddled with but have no idea of bike engine tuning. Is it worth getting porting, polishing, 3 angle valve seats and bigger valves fitted? Will it make much difference? Also can you get bigger cams etc for them??
Where do I need to be looking for performance enhancing bits?????????

the engines respond well to tuning and head over to holeshot racings website,they are good and have detailed tuning upgrade and bhp outputs oh and they do turbo kits

I wouldnt bother mate. Unless your already using the bike to its limits as it is/was and using every bit of power it has already, then its not worth doing it mate in my opinion. As said, id just go one down on the front if you need/want the feeling of more power, or get a quick throttle, that will make it feel like its just found 50bhp from somewhere.

If you are willing to go tuning way, skim 1mm of head, ported and polished, gas flowed, valve seats grownd and polished.
Also right gearing, and also the jetting will help alot.

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
Quickest gains with a bike are free flow air filter, full exhaust system and a re-map for FI or re-jet for carbs to make the best of what you have. Once you've done that then drop a tooth on the front sproket and if you feeling brave add a couple on the back (might need a longer chain at this point and a speedo healer) job done. Pipe, filter and re-map might give you an extra 10 or 15 BHP and the reduced gearing will make if feel like an extra 20.. The new exhaust will probably save a fair bit of weight to.
After that then, as already mentioned, your into head work, cams etc to allow more air to flow, although I am sure they are already pretty good as the big bike manufacturers are always chasing the extra few BHP to out do their rivals..

If your going to mod anything then maybe do the brakes...
just my opinion though .. if you really want to do it then go for it.

who can really make the most of a fireblade anyway? yes we can all hit the throttle stop on a straight but what will more power achieve? the corners is where the fun is at

I know what you're sayin guys. Ive never been a straight line hero, I love the bends, much more fun. Im on the lookout for better brakes for it and maybe a better suspension set up. I just cant help myself from fiddling and trying to make things faster, stop and handle better thats all. Think it can stay standard for now

Good choice mate, as baker says, brakes are always a good thing to improve (for both performance and saftey!) and are much more important than outright power in my opinion. Im not sure what the brakes are like on your bike mate, but having decent brakes makes you so much more confident on the corners as im sure your aware. I love late braking and i have 110% confidence in my brakes when braking from any speed into corners, and that means much more than an extra 10-20 bhp in my opinion.

best money spent ian , would be a slight upgrade on the brakes , ( pads lines master cylinder )
and a full suspension setup for your weight , riding style ,
then if your feeling game , sumwhere like the california superbike school for a days advanced riding ,
do alot more for you than a 50 hp increase

No colour chose yet mate. Black, black with airbrushing and also white are the primary choices, but I have been looking at candy and 3 stage pearls too.
