Could be a number of things m8, does it have a gd spark? Have you drained the carb you may have particles in the fuel, if youve jet washed it reasontly or been out in very wet muddy conditions water / mud can be drawn in through the filter, when were the valves last checked if they are out of tolarance this would also cause difficult / no starting

Did it just stop and fail to start again or was it running fine the last time you used it?
Id check the usuals first, check for spark and replace, clean filter and carb out then re-fill with fresh clean fuel. As said above, was it jet washed before or has it been used since? Check for bad connections.
Has it lost its coolant and overheated without you knowing?
Failing that, itll probably be strip down time to check the internals.

Bought it none running, been assured valve clearances are ok, had piston and barel before i got it. sparks ok, pulled bottom of carb off looks clean. Dont know how would clean jets?
Kicking it over getting occasional backfire, cant tell if its carb or exhaust though......
Thanks for replies so far.

If youve bought it as a non-runner then id do all the above first, then just strip it down mate and check all the internals.
As you dont know how and when it stopped running, it could be anything from bad wiring, bad fueling or at worst case a knackered engine.
Its just a case of trial and error really but it may take some time or you may get lucky. I wouldn t take the previous owners word for anything though really, unless you know him of course.

That does from 04-06 so your covered , should tell you how & what the valves should be set to along with all other poss faults
If you dont get it fixed i may be intrested in taking it off your hands depending on price & were you are..
