Default Next question - removing decals advice

Ok, so next up will be finding an rs500 1/18 bumper and from what I see they will need repainting, but having the decals removed first. Nail varnish remover without acetone has been recommended and someone also said brake fluid is ok if it is going to be repainted. Any thoughts folks?

Even acetone free nail varnish remover can damage the plastic as I once discovered.

You could try dettol (make sure its got Chloroxylenol in it). Its what I use to remove paint/varnish from models. Mix it about 50/50 with warm water. Submerge the part, leave it for 12-24 hours. The only down side to this is Dettol has a very strong smell.

A little petrol on a cloth is good at breaking down sticky residue from stickers

If its metal, use paint stripper back to bare metal, then prime, paint, laquer & polish. Metal parts only.

If its plastic or resin, paint stripper will melt it.

I have used brake fluid & acetone free nail polish remover before.

All I would do is sand it down so the decals are gone, then paint as above.
