Default Model Trains

Anybody going to own up to doing this ?

I got a model of a NSE 4 Vep for Christmas and it has sparked my interest off again.

I have over 120 locos

Not bought any for years or had a layout for about 25 years.

Setup my train set i had when i was a kid in my loft for my little boy. Well thats what i told the wife. That was when he was 6 months old now nearly 5. But i still wont let him play with it yet.....(on his own)

Still got my original Intercity 125 and a few locos with the addition of the virign Intercity and other bits the father inlaw picked up at a auction. Not a fancy layout just 6 loops with stations and bits and pieces.

Gotta love a hornby train set.

Apart from the HST 125's and the Mk2 sleeper and buffet car, the rest my Dad gave them to me Christmas 2009 as he never uses them and knew how much I loved them when he did have a little train set. He also gave my brother a load of his Graham Farish 'N' gauge set.
Heres a few pics of what I have got from another thread.
HST 125's.

Various Mk2 Carraiges.

Various Trucks.

Little Engines.

My 2 Diesels. A 47 and not sure what the other is lol.

And Steam Train (Castle Class).

I plan on making a 6 foot by 4 foot layout once Ii finish all my other little model projects that I seem to be acumilating lol.
Obviously this is all DC but I want to get some DCC with the sound bits that come out each individual loco, but they are very pricey. Heljan seem to be the cheapest option but not sure if they will work with the Hornby DCC controller.

Why did I write me not knowing what loco it is when it is written on the side of the bloomin thing lmao lol.

A train driver is one of the things I am looking at when I leave the Sub service.
Would love though to drive around in the 37's.

Any pics of your colleciton?

here are a few pictures of my layout,
baseboard 11ft x 8ft
twin loop with plenty of sidings and a shunting yard, 3 H and M controls.
my dad started it for me and my brother in the late 70s up in the loft, we messed about with it during the 80s doing some landscape and building cardboard buildings for it but me and my brother never had quite enough time money or time to finish it properly.
when i moved out it got forgotten about for a few years until i resurrected my love of the trains and transferd the layout to my house. i got it set up how i wanted it up in the loft and started to do the scenery then decided to move house, so to peices it came again.
its all packed up in the summer house of my new house where it is going to be set up on a pully system so it can by lifted up to the celing of the summer house when its not being used when i get time again
ese pictures are from my house after i moved it the first time

Got loads of stuff from when I was a lad, it's all boxed up at my mums place.

Went into a model shop the other day in Leicester and have to say I was sorely dissapointed with the efforts of Hornby nowadays, it all just looks so cheap and nasty compared to the stuff I have from the mid 80's

I used to have a great little 2mm N gauge layout of 'Watlington Station' I built when I was about 12/13,got broken up when I moved out and my old lady died though

My uncle has been building a live steam Black5 on and off for the last 20 years or so, its about 4 foot long!!! The boiler for it cost him nearly a grand!

Might have to buy my little un a train set now!

i think all of the things i have are 00 gauge.. basically everything i have is from my youth and from an abandoned project of making a big board in my parents loft. you'll be able to identify far more of these bits and pieces than i will Steve might even have some bits that are worth money! alot of the models in the pics are missing parts, luckily though, most of them have been found.

and of course, a wind up thomas from my first hornby set

when i build my new workshop, i'll make a sensible sized model railway for me and my son to mess with (when he's a bit older)

ive got a couple set up, still at my parents though

Z gauge layout 99.5% complete
2x T gauge self built sets in cases.

The T gauge gear was hassle to find and hassle to build.
But when you tell someone, ''heres my train set'' and open the box and theres a mountain with a train runnng round its pretty cool.

I'll get some pics next time im up there.
