Default Bell Plug and Drive..... Utter crap!!!

So the cheapest quote I could get on the Jeep required a plug in black box recorder.
They (Bell) claim that if you get silver or gold you get a discount or refunded money from your premium after the 3 month period for the black box to be fitted.

Month one drove like an old man. Very slow and progressive being as smooth as possible. Got scored bronze.
Thought sod it I'll drive normal and got silver. Kept getting silver until my last email and got told bronze so no refund.

I'm pissed off with these little carrots they dangle and you get fuck all back.
Been driving since 99 and never had an accident (1 non fault).

Insurance companies take the piss. Robbing wankers.

Rant over.

Totally agree.

We insured my youngest son with them when he passed his test. We fitted the black box as instructed. Refunds were promised if he achieved Bronze standard or better, and updates we received every week were always saying he'd achieved a broonze.

Thta was right up until the final week after 3 months, when we got and email saying 'sorry you've not achieved bronze standard, so there will be no refund'

Total scam if you ask me, but then again, they're part of the Admiral group so I should have expected nothing else!

Hi,
If you decide you wanted to try someone that doesn't require a black box to be fitted for insurance then please feel free to give us a try.
Regards,
Dan.

was with bell for around 7 years. Every renewal they sent the letter saying it had gone up X amount since last year, one phonecall later that amount would be discounted to keep my business. I was getting more and more fed up with the hassle and no savings so in the end I rang up and cancelled and told them they was a joke, compared to every other company (within reason) they was almost double.

Fast forward just over a year I get an email asking me to contact a company in regards to them. I ring the company and get told I owe bell money. They reckon I took out a policy and cancelled the same day and there was money owed to them. I said to the guy on the phone are they just stupid or trying there luck, why would anyone take out a policy, pay for it to be started and cancel it the same day? they'd at least get the first months worth out of it as they'd lose one month straight away (and also I think you get a cooling off period you can cancel it but not sure with insurance)

Guy on the phone couldn't really argue considering I still had proof i'd cancelled it before they reckon the new policy started and even had a response letter from them. Bunch of chancers which was a shame as i'd been with them a while and they was good in the beginning.

Lmao. I get cheap quotes off them so might drive like a puffter for 3 months if it allows me to insure something more powerful for 9 months without a box.

It's bulshit mate.

I find it very convenient that the last report was worse so didn't qualify for a discount.

Same as that Aviva app. That's a load of shite as well. I've used it with a lad from work who's terrible in a car. I drove after and was as smooth and progressive as I could have possibly been yet his score was better.

It's all bollocks.

Yeah, I remember driving round my dads area and was really rough with my driving and got marked down on my scores, and he fucking whined at me saying it was me causing it. So I let him drive. He drove as smoothly as possible and still got a shit score haha. Will be glad to run my box over once the policy runs out and send them the remains of the shit they charged me £130 for.

The sad thing is if the companies get thier way then eventually we will all be tied to a black box insurance policy as non box policies will be silly money or only available for certain cars/risk groups.

Black boxes are another way they can charge more so why wouldnt they do it?

They will take your car, invoice you and shag your mum. If they had their own way (no doubt).

Legalised robbery.

Your driving feedback (first 3 months)

Congratulations! Your driving is ranked as gold standard! That means you're on track to earn a further discount.

Keep using your unit and keep up the good driving!

BUT
'end of 3 months''

Congratulations! You have reached your Plug & Drive 3 month review point, and based on your driving scores over the last 3 months, you have been awarded extra discount! As a result, your policy premium has been reduced by £0.00.

''are you kidding me?''
