Traders policy question
A friend of mine has just bought a beavertail Transit to have a go at collecting scrap motors, and a bit of buying and selling. The van is all legit, taxed and tested, but he doesnt have his own insurance policy on the van. He's named on his dad's insurance, a trade policy, but obviously carrying on his own 'business'. Incidentally, his dad does the same, shifts cars and scrap, so its 2 seperate businesses running off the same policy. Is he likely to run into any problems operating this way? Likewise, using someone else's waste carriers licence, for his own work.....
Just to point out, this is someone else, and not me talking about myself in the third person!

I've found that life I needed.. It's HERE!!
trade policy's are getting stricter than ever now, if he's only a named driver on another business policy then i would assume that he should only be driving for work use of the named business, as most policy now dont allow social and domestic for named drivers,
so i doubt they would allow it to cover a named driver for use as another business
this is just my opinion but i know how my own policy and many other freinds in the trade have recently had our own policy's amended by the insurers on renewal to ake them stricter
as for the waste carriers licence then he will defo need his own,
i actualy know somebody that has 2, 1 for his skip business and another for scrap metal as he was fined for the scrap metal because it wasn't covered by the skip 1 for some unknown(to me) reason

The only real way of finding out is to actually go through the policy and find out. If not information is there then calling the company and finding out. Takes any grey out the situation which could possibly get him in trouble later on down the road
