Well I hae just had the 'pleasure' of having to renew the cossie insurance. Went like this:
Get renewal quote from Boncaster of £378
Call them and ask if they can do better - get told no
A week later I had time to call around so started with Boncaster - Still no lower
Phoned Adrian Flux and they quoted £330
Spoke to Paul@Need2Insure and got £299
Called Boncaster back to cancel and they offer me £249!
Belled Paul back and he got to £270

So I took the deal with Paul. I'm also still covered for RS track days too for no extra.

The lesson here for any insurance people is give me your best quote upfront if you want my business, as I am a man of principles. Cost is obviously important but so is feeling that I am a valued customer, and I am not having my pants pulled down! I gave Boncaster 3 opportunities to retain my business and told them I would call the others so they had fair warning. When they gave the final quote, he said they had 2 policies they could offer with modified classics and the cheaper one was the one I had not been offered in 3 years of cover with them!

All quotes were on the same basis as below, and all modifications declared.
Male, 34, BH postcode, 3,000 miles/yr, 296bhp, 1988 2wd saph kept in a garage, classic policy so no NCB (I use my NCB for my daily).

Hope this helps someone else to avoid getting shafted with their next premium.
