rwd with the lowest insurance?
Are there any rwd cars that have reasonable insurance prices for a 19 year old?
I start learning in may but ive been thinking about what to get for my second car, i would rather get rwd, so i done an insurance quote as if i was 19 and insuring a e36 320i saloon (170hp), £2800 with 1years ncb, third party fire and theft.
are they good cars? are there any alternatives that offer the same rwd fun?
cheers
Edit - im expecting the "you'll be too young for a rwd car" lol. just remember you were my age once, and people go on about them being better than fwd by alot so they must be worth it?

You have Sierra/Granada from the Ford range, the said BMW'S like you mention apart from that I can't think of anything that would be insurance friendly for you. A lot depends if you have a preference for a particular manufacture or just anything?
What you have heard about being 'Better'? A true driver may appreciate RWD as I do but FWD has advantages as well especially in the snow conditions as of late, I.E you don't get stuck much, where as RWD is hopeless, there are very few modern RWD cars around and those that are tend to be sports saloons etc. In normal day to day driving you don't really notice the difference.

The only reason id have a omega over a sierra is that its much cheaper, newer and that if it breaks it doesnt matter as much.
i would haver thought most carltons and senators would be 24v's and probably auto. A carlton is the motoring equivalent of a boat, the senator would be a ship

i had a bmw e30 318is, but i doubt you will get insured on that? it was well tail happy, as mentioned omegas are nearly all auto, in fact i think it was only police ones that were manual, could be wrong, sierra sapphire 1.8 cvh would be cheaper on the insurance?

Would I pay that much on a 2.0 n/a sierra? Or a bloody vauxhall omega? Would I fuck! My mate had a 200sx as his first car when he was 18, and paid 3k insurance. I'd rather pay that for a 200 than for a slow sierra tbh.

its a difficult one cos insurance varies so so much for every person, your mate could have got lucky. my mate pays 3k for a 1.2 nova. where as i pay 2k for an 05 plate bora...whos got the better deal there? i know the attraction to rwd but sometimes it really just isnt worth doing unless youve got massive pockets, but like ive just said insurance is so expensive, no matter what car youve got, and sometimes its worth paying extra for something worthwhile thats all

P100 pickup, weld the diff which is strong anyway, but replaceable with a capri LSD.
1.8TD, turn the fuel pump and boost up, strip it out.
insurance isnt that bad on them really.
i have a white 1.8TD with exactly those mods thats just used on private land but it is a good laugh. only weighs about 1000KG stripped out

What are you planning to use it for? If your planning to use it on the road and drive it sideways then whats the point of insurance? As your likely to get caught for dangerous driving. Obviously that was abit of pisstake.
If your going to keep it off the road and use it on private land; then buy the biggest engine'd RWD car. You cant really go wrong. I have two e36's, a 323i (welded diff) and a 328i (LSD), both go sideways with very little prompt.
