You can get insurance for 1-14 days from RAC, I did it with my dad on his focus and it was around Ł15 for 24 hours.

Try www.aviva.co.uk, you can get temp insurance between 1 and 28 days. AFAIK, the only restrictions are you must be over 25 and the vehicle valued under Ł55,000

Altough you might only need insurance to drive it to the garage where its going to be stored have you thought about the worse case senario ie what if it gets nicked or the garage burns down ect hopefully it wont but for the sake of the cost of the insurance i would keep it insured all the time as its a big loss if the worse should happen. Im in the middle of doing the underside of my escos and it will be off the road for a year but it will still be insured the same regardless. As the car is worth more than Ł5000 its most likely that you will only be able to get fully comp insurance anyway.

yeah my advise would be aviva/RAC day insure doesnt matter which one both nearly identical and the two companys ever share an office together

there are other ways as if i remember if you buy the car from ebay and pay there rates you get 7 days free insurance

and i dont know if its still going but at aviva/RAC were offering 7 days free insurance if you take out a quote with them so worth a call to see if they still do that

You only get 7 days free insurance if you buy the car from a dealership or have done an HPI check, NOT just for a quote. I, unfortunately, work for Aviva
