Default Spliting N.C.B

This has been asked before but I can't find the thread. Is it possible to split your N.C.B and put so many years on one car and the rest on another car? Cheers for any advice

i have 4 years NCB on one car then another company has mirrored it on to another policy for a differenty car, so in effect I get to use them twice.

Hi pcressie,

Unfortunately, you can't break down your NCB into the individual years to use separately.

You will find that some Insurers will allow an introductory, or mirrored concession based upon your record under the first policy. This will require your being claim free of non-recoverable incidents (other than windscreen claims) for 4-5 years, but providing this is the case you should be ok.

Hope this helps.

Kind regards

Tony

Hi Yellowsierra,

With Greenlight the mirrored NCB concession provided by the range of Insurers we have trading agreements with will depend upon the particular Insurer that covers your first car, who will be most likely to offer the mirror for the 2nd car.

Providing your record is good for the first car and fronting is not a potential issue, some of our Insurers will allow us to mirror the NCB percentage to a 2nd car.

Insurer wise, our schemes are primarily aimed at performance or modified cars and thus we can usually cater (and will be most competitive) for these models. Conversely, if the 2nd vehicle is an off road 4x4, people carrier, van/truck etc. it's likely we would be unable to offer a quotation.

The starting point for the Mirrored NCB is to base the 2nd policy upon a snapshot of your record under the first policy at the point the application is made. The ensuing offer will then be valid for between 21-30 days (depending upon the Insurer) providing your circumstances do not change between application date and cover arrangement date.

Moving onto the split NCB idea, as far as we know there is not an open market Insurer that would currently allow you to split your NCB between 2 or more cars, but as you say it would be useful to be able to do so.

Some of our Insurers do look for ways to differentiate themselves from their competitors and splitting NCB is something that we can highlight to them in our development negotiations over the next quarter.

Kind regards

Tony

Bad business practice is not answering your phone on a number of occasions and then when it is finally answered a receptionist says you'll be called back as soon as a line is free and then you never hear from them again. So you've missed out on a potential customer as I've recently bought a fiesta st and needed insurance.
