Default Do u need insurance?

i cant rember for the lfe of me if u need insurance 2 tax a car??

ive got on sat out side my house that the tax has just ran out on! now i dont drive it but want it taxed just so it can sit outside my house all legal!
so would prefer not 2 have 2 insure it!

also a car has to be insured to sit on the road matty

You need to get it SORNED and off the road ASAP if you dont plan to use it.

no its no problem ill just get it insured 2moro then go get some tax!
got it moted yesterday so its fine just wasnt sure if u did need it as ive always just taken everything when ive taxed cars before! lol

Hi bbs,

As per the replies that you received from the guys above, if a vehicle is kept upon a public highway it is required by law to have a minimum of Third Party Insurance cover upon it.

Tax wise, from what we understand the Insurance cover will need to show that it is in force for 14 days or more.

The other option is to get the vehicle off the road and upon a sorn declaration, which if you're not going to use the vehicle seems to be the best option. (Although, if it's a valuable vehicle that you would worry about being damaged or stolen you may still wish to buy cover).

erm tax lasts till the end of a month so either you've got till the end of Nov or it's been sat there since the start of Nov with no tax.
