Default mobile phone insurance, what does it cover?

i got a new nokia n78 on tuesday, and were babysitting tonight and the lad knocked a table with a cup of tea on it, all over the fooking phone and drowned it.

after about 5 seconds, it switched off and wont switch back on, i cant shake anymroe tea out of it either

its in the airing cupbourd now and ill try it again tomoz...

but i got a months free insurance with it, so will they replace it with a spillage?

or as its still within the 14 day trial period, should i just send it back and ask for another lol?

insured is insured mate they shouldn`t argue,if they do tell em where you work and they may get bad press

lad that works for me left his fone in his workpants put em in the wash they wouldnt honour the policy as they said it was avoidable but if you word it right it was an accident `end of`

many argue over water damage for some reason its listed in the small print. i know off a few that have been bumped when the phone company claimed it was water damage even though the phones hadnt been near water.

well i guess anything is avoidable, ie if i hadnt put the phone in the flight path of the tea, it wouldnt have got a soaking, or if i hadnt put the cup on the fookin table it wouldnt have spilled, or if the kids dad wasnt such a complete cunt and actually wanted to look after his son for night he wouldnt have been here lol...

ill give vodafone a bell tomoz lol

my mums managed to have a about 4 phones replaced with insurance!

from being in the washing machine, getting soaked walking the dog?!, dropping out of the car etc etc

you should be fine!

just seen its with vodafone, pop into the shop + they'll ring it all through for you and give you a phone there and then. much easier than phoning up yourself

if you left it on it will be fooked now and drying out wont make a difference. my 3 day old sony walkman phone was run over by a scissor lift on a building site and was replaced by vodaphone. technically that could have been avoidable if i hadnt dropped my jacked on the floor and i wasnt fannying about racing the guy in the other scissor lift

Right Fudge

THis is what you do.

Dry it out.
Clean it up.
Remove ALL and EVERY sign of the tea- it stains so you will need to clean it very well.
Gotta be quick- the boards rust like fuck and go green.
Stick it back in the box- take it to the shop you got it from- tell em it doesn't work- try and pick the most junior and stupid person- they'll want to check it, try another battery and sim etc - let em do it.

Usual rules apply, be polite and nice, dont kick off- you are ENTITLED to an exchange for the same phone if faulty within 28 days...

Now- obviously the phone isn't faulty but you're pretending it is- so no probs.

If you claim on insurance you will find there is an excess fee and prob the first premium- phone insurance is only free for 1 month if you dont claim!!! (its a sales tactic)

How do I know all this- Carphone Warehouse for 7 years!!! I know all the scams inside out and upside down.

small update, took it out the airing cupbourd this morning when i got up, and low and behold it worked fine!

till about 11am

then it froze, so had to remove the battery and when i switched it back on, i couldnt enter my pin number, its fucked

went to the vodafone shop, the guy there said, yeah, its buggered but i need to ring up 192 and as its still in the 14 days, they will deliver me a new one and collect it.

so ill give them a ring tomoz as the department i need is not open today... typical lol

so hopefully it'll get sorted.

I ran over one of mine whilst on the mower ,rang voda they told me to take it to my nearest voda shop,i picked up most of the 500 pieces of phone and took the bag of bits to the shop, they still sent it for repair
needless to say they didn't manage to repair it but gave me a new one and the bag full of bits and a £25 excess bill
