because she is blatantly a better driver than you, therefore reducing your chances of claiming

If you have children it brings it down too, so make some kids up as your more responsible apparently.

I noticed this when I added my wife to the MR2 policy. It dropped by 212 quid...

I never told her though, cos she'd have wanted me to give her the money

But how can ADDING someone to a policy........therefore INCREASING the risk of a crash ect as more people will be using it therefore being on the road more.......Reduce the cost

She wont be using a bloody big transit anyway

My insurance went down by about 30 quid when I put my 20 year old sister in law on the policy.
She aint even got a full licence, I'm teaching her to drive.

Insurance companies go all stupid over women. The fact shes a girl must have ticked some 'safer driver' box somewhere on their system.

Strange isnt it, because if 2 people are sharing the policy and 1 of them is a woman with kids, half the time the car is at less of a risk of being in an accident or a claim, therefore making it cheaper to insure?

Im just waffling im sure some insurance boffin will correct me

Tiff, apparently it proves that YOU won't be as likely to have a smash because statistically there will be 2 of you in the car more as you're both on the insurance.

Thats what Rardeep Singh (aka 'Joe') from the insurance people told me when I did it.

I have just insured my first motorbike EVER, a Ducati 996, and it is £480 fully comp with NO bike NCB's, and no previous experience, yet it is still cheaper than any of my other cars that I have 10 years NCB on .... strange old world.

If you want comedy quotes try 'LV'.

I tried them after seeing all the ads thinking "What the hell.. give em a chance."
They quoted me near £500 for a 1.3 HCS escort worth about 50p.
I said no thanks and continue to pay HIC £160 for the same shitter.

its over twice as much for me to insure a standard e36 m3 worth 3k than

mk2 astra turbo'd running 400bhp all engine mods declared roll cage 2 bucket seats and perspex windows.

under 600 for the gte over 1300 for the m3

they are on drugs sometimes im sure

i do find insurance crazy!

i phoned greenlight today to cancel my cossie policy, but i wanted to insure my daily driver with them.

now bearing in mind my cossie was circa 360bhp, they wont insure me on my bog standard 323i coupe!

I transferred my policy from a stock 2litre glsi sierra valued at 450quid to a Toyota Chaser valued at something mental like 15k, with all mods declared, inc a 400bhp RB26, stripped, buckets, respray, wheels, coilovers, diff, etc etc etc

And it was 50quid more

Yeah got the discount, on the cars by adding the better half. It also works if you add any other named driver over 25yrs old. I was quoted £870 FC to drive an e46 M3 with just the mandatory excess and was quoted £1040 with just the mandatory excess on a Ferrari 360 or £780 with a £500 excess! Insurance is just weird.

Allways since day one of driving , ive had my mum on my policys.

remember in 97 my 1.1l fiesta was 800 a year with my mum on the policy, best quote without her on it was 1200+ from memory!

the thing with puting you otherhalf on the policydoes make it cheeper, its when you try and get added to theres they moan as it costs more.

the insurance companies favour women as their figures show women make less claims, what the insurers fail to realise is that women are claiming on their husbands policies as it was his car she crashed lol
in a few years time it will revert back when they realise their grave error

statisically women make fewer claims than men £ for £ which is why their policies are cheaper

what they don't tell you is that women make more claims mile for mile than blokes do

but then again, blokes claims tend to be higher than womens claims for the repairs

on a side note, my dad, with me as the named driver was quoted £400 on the mondeo
same company, with the names swapped around wanted £700 with me as the policy holder and my dad as the named driver

then i thought "fuck you very much" and went onto the internet on one of these price comparison websites

the same insurance company gave me 5 different quotes (esure) so i went with the cheapest

when the policy came through it had business mileage on it as well, so i called up and said i didn't want it for business mileage, just spd and it went up from £400 with me and my dad to £600, for doing LESS mileage

then they said if i did it online they would give me a better price than calling into a call centre because that's what they were offereing

so i got more for my money than i needed

what a crazy fucked up world we live in

but i'm sure tony will come along and tell us the truth about what we are saving and why we are getting penalised for other stuff

I used to do it with fictitious people back it when i couldnt get insured on anything not like they will ever crash and claim as they dont exist

if you stick some old woman on your policy as a 17 year old then the company sees it as 50% less time the 17 year old will be driving.

Im looking at insurance at the monent

Quote for Fabia Vrs £3000 per year
Add my dad onto policy = £2400 per year
Add my mum also = £2100

So £900 shaved off by adding them. Still my own policy and me as main driver

Put Deb on the insurance for my Focus this morning as she's driving that for a bit as I need her car to get some bits done (and shift a load of shit in my garden as she's got an estate ) - extra £38 for the year.

Me and the ex were looking at getting an escort about 10 years ago - it was CHEAPER insurance on the 1.6L than the 1.3L.
