I would think a 2wd MT75 box would fit the bill nicely.

I guess you could use a T5 but the MT75 box is much more common and easier to find not to mention a lot cheaper.

MT75 would be my choice anyway!

The MT75 will be perfectly capaple of handling the 200 or so bhp of a 2.9 24 valver.

go t5, the mt75 means having prop made as well as a gearbox made from a 4x4 box, t5 is easiest these days, bellhousings are about Ł30 plus shipping from the states, as the 2005 mustang v6 uses a t5 for the manual base model, and the v6 is the 4.0 explorer engine that is a 4.0 version of the for 2.8/9/24v cosworth engine, if your lucky you'll find a t5 and bellhousing, find an American car importer local to you and talk nicely, and if your lucky for a small fee, he'll bring it all in, in the boot of one of his imports, thats what i did, i use a guy in chelmsford.

Not at all mate. There is a 2wd version of the MT75, I know, I own a sierra with it fitted. They were fitted in 2.0 litre sierra's and granada's after 1989, scorpio's, transits etc.

As for the prop, again standard fit on 2.0 sierra's after 1989 so direct fit.

I reckon you'll get an MT75 box and prop for 150 quid tops.

There's all sorts of ratios mate depending on what engine was fitted to what vehicle.

Best thing I would think to do would be to have a look at the ratios in the workshop manuals and things and see what suits your needs best.

I personally think you won't go far wrong with a box out of a 2.0i sierra or Granada tbh mate.

the only part of the 2.0 sierra/granada box thats any good for a 24v cosworth conversion is the rear section, unless your swapping all the internals over to the hybrid box, which is pointless, the bellhousings can't be changed to fit the 24v as they don't unbolt

I always thought that all the ford bellhousing bolt patterns, apart from the duratec 4 cylinder engines were the same.

if you went with the mt75 box you would have to get a v6 4x4 box and a 2.0 2wd box and change the imput shafts in the 2wd box as the v6 is imput shaft is longer and these days ur talking the price of a t5 box when getting the 2 box's i know becouse thats what i want to do but there going for silly money at the mo i would just go for the v6 type 9 handles 200bhp easy thats what im running now on my v6
