I've used it once in my old saff cos.

After flushing the engine, didn't noticed any difference

If you cossie always got the regular oil change (and good oil) I don't think it's neccesary.

If your engine is clean - ie the oil is a nice gold colour then there is no need what so ever.

Remember oil contains detergents to clean the engine anyway.

If the oil is black as night then a flush might be a good idea.

GEnerally regular oil changes are much better than flushing.

I'm sure my dad put some kind of engine cleaner in his motorbike and the engine didn't last too long or seized up quite soon after.
This is probably useless info as this was way back in the 70's

I use it every other oil change, never had a problem, heard the same about old bits of crap and carbon holding engines together as well, can't see how myself thought it was nuts and bolts etc.
Although it is true if tappets are dodgy it can make them noisy, but only shows that they needed changing anyway, cossies as with any turbo car are going to suffer from more blow by gasses than ones with a turbo, these gasses also polute the oil.
Just look at any new diesel engine shortly after an oil change it is black because of the high carbon particles suspended in oil due to increased blow by compared with petrol engine n/a.
If you want to go really clean go LPG and change the oil every 100,000 miles and if it was on a new engine it will still be clean, plugs last loger too.

If you've got a high mileage motor don't do it. But if you haven't using proper flushing oil you'll be amazed at the amount of crap that's siting all around your engine and how long the new oil stays golden for.

if you changed your oil properly through out the cars life there will be no crap in the engine.
The crap build up is products of combustion suspended in the oil burnt and deposited in the engine internals because the oil was not changed often enough.
If it looks like you could grow potatoes in your engine flushing oils and engine cleaners will do more harm than good.Get a shovel and dig it out lol

once your engine has contracted the black death nothing bar a full rebuild and acid dipping will save it

My dads friend once done in with a old Essex V6, and it TOTALLY killed the bottom end. Was rattling and had basically knocked the bearings out.

as said anything with 70k or more on the clock dont use as theres a 25% chance of clearing out the dirt thats acting as a seal/spacer on various parts of the engine, theres a 50% chance the engines will start to use oil too

BUT ive anyone needs any ive got 150 bottles of castrols engine flush at 2 quid a tin that retails at 4.99 per tin,,, yes i can do bulk orders too buit the price is the same

ive used it once, i was at our lasses grandparents, and checked the oil as i hadnt checked it since id bought it, it was seriuosly low, and the only oil i could get my hands on was multi grade , sunday afternoon, middle of a village, so topped it up with that, drove home, then flushed the engine and filled it with the correct oil 5w 30. my car was on 85k miles at the time, ive done 15k + since, and mines been fine.
