New engine maybe?
I'm hoping to get a new job soon and if i get it i want to build a new cossie, and want to try a slightly different spec this time. The last cossie had the usual stg3 bits: T34, 500 cooler, greens, cams, Low comp (7.5:1) etc. but this time i want as little lag as possible.
SO, i'm thinking of something along these lines: 200 block, balanced crank & rods, ported & polished head. roller bearing turbo (GT30?) with ext wastegate. The comp ratio is where i'm thinking of making the big difference, as i was contemplating raising it to 9:1. I'm not sure on injectors, head and cam combination yet, advice appreciated.
As i'm only aiming for 350bhp (but with less lag and more torque this time) will this comp ratio be ok?
Also i've been told GT30 with ext wastegate is overkill, what size (preferably GT series) turbo would suit this sort of spec? and can i get one with an integral wastegate?
Please discuss: any help is brill, ta!

instead of building a ticking time bomb with high comp why not use a 4x4 manifold, smaller exhaust housing, smaller intercooler, etc for less lag,OR,get anti lag fitted?do you mean less lag or lower boost threshold btw?(ie how long the turbo takes to spin,or when it kicks in during the rev range?)
Less lag and lower boost threshold! The old cos motor was .48 housing, bit laggy and it hit really hard, all 350bhp at once. Went out in a mates 450bhp+ pulsar the other day and was impressed with the (relative) smoothness of the delivery, and the way that it lost very little power in the gearchanges. Demonstrated the difference in technology.
