Just looked at Autotrader to see what the going rate was, and this is what they say:
Dealer £11,968
Private £11,599
Part Ex £10,021
Trade £9,609
Cost New £24,320
Ford Escort Hatchback (90-01) RS Cosworth 4x4 3dr
Hatchback 3dr
1996-N
Mileage
Fallen behind rivals in overall ability. Reasonable refinement but agility is poor; ride is harsh and engines coarse.
Generally reliable and cheap to run;
Obviously never owned one
Damp in fuse boxes can wreck electrics.
Cambelts on diesels need changing every two years.
Hmmm optional extra?
Alternative choice:
Rover 200, Vauxhall Astra, Citroen ZX
Quality comparisons
