hows your economy?

fitted a YBO 611 (Group A) head gasket at 129 K miles when he had the head overhauled (new valve seals etc).

Story
First off NMS Gunship conversion gets a big from me.
Doug let me drive the car (he's not entirely all there I suspect!) on my own so I could see how it had improved over the 'off the shelf' chip he had before. Peeps need to remember this is a T3 car with only light green injectors. The only change Karl has done is to live map it (maybe a few other teaks but no mechanical changes AFAIK), the trick is in the way he has mapped it .
Anyway, onto the first blood! Stopped at the red traffic lights on the private dual carriage way I was on a P reg Mitsi Evo (not sure what no - think a 6/ VI?) pulled up beside me and started revving his engine a bit.
Lights went green...I stepped off the clutch at about 5000 or so rpm (that's 1500 rpm if Doug's reading this). Car dug in (it's a 4x4) and shot forward like a missile. Matey in Evo was on a loser from then on. Changed into second, still ahead of him, but expecting him to come by (there's a few 350+bhp Evos and Scoobs in this private coastal town). He didn't catch up at all, and by the roundabout I was still well ahead.
Slowed down, went round the roundabout sensibly (bit greasy out there, not my car, treating it with respect etc etc) and Evo man did the same in the inside lane (having stayed out there from the lights). He then over took one car and cut inside another (and I 'may' have followed him )
Onto the next length of dual carriageway and a run from approx 40 mph to 150mph (or 40-50mph if Doug or Plod is reading this) and I over took the Evo and gained a few car lengths on him comfortably.
Turned around at the next roundabout, headed back to where Doug and the rest of the PF lads were, and for two seconds tried to pretend that I'd treated the car with all due respect it deserved ( , sorry Doug!)
Anyway, to cut a lot of waffle short - the car went bloody well for just T3, pulling very strongly till around 5500 rpm, then only slightly easing off after that. After my little race with the Evo it ticked over perfectly, didn't overheat and did EXACTLY what Doug and Karl intented it to do, as well as what all COSSIE owners should be doing (i.e. mashing all comers!)
The Cossie reputation spreads. I'm very impressed, and I have a 371bhp Saph to compare it to. There is no comparison - the Gunship / live map conversion is a winner. Gunship Silver Saph 1, Purple Evo 0

But im sure the turbo wont last long now its working so hard and is already an old unit, but when it goes doug will just replace it with a fully rebuilt one he said, at which point i doubt it will ever go again in the time he owns the car.
The car really does go fantastically, its well worth the fact it might need a new turbo at some point IF it gets used hard a lot, it really does make a lot of talk at stupidly low rpm, i challenge anyone to go in it and not be impressed at just how well you can make the standard hardware go!
