have a look at www.saabscene.com

might be some handy hints in the forums bit

I used to own a 9000 Aero...225 bhp jobby. They are gnerally good engines and go on for ever if oil changed regularly....gearboxes are weak though and I know of quite a lot that wear out timing and balance chains at around the 120k mark, and ask if the DI (direct ignition) casette has been changed (the red or black module between the cam banks). They tend to go around that mileage and cost about £150 new.

Cheers
ant

The one main factor to look out for when buying a 93 is make sure the BULKHEAD has been modified as this will cost you 2 arms and 4 legs to carry out this repair they split around the servo and pedal box and you get movement between the o.s.f strut mount area to bulk head saab did carry out this repair under a national warantee scheme and saab may honour all if not part of the reapair costs even now so look into it before handing over any cash

But apart from that a cracking motor and go forever apart from what has already been mentioned DI packs etc

Regards Doug.
