Default robin reliants are COOL

http://www.beardmorebros.co.uk/websi...ant_kitten.htm

This Reliant Kitten is powered by a 3500cc Rover V8 engine and can accelerate to 100 mph from a standing start in under 10 seconds. Each rear tyre is over 300mm (12") wide and the car has a tube chassis/rollcage. I built the car when I was 20 years old and drive it regularly on the road surprising many supposedly fast cars and motor bikes. I built the car in our small single garage with basic hand tools ( hacksaw, files, angle grinder, etc.) and towards the end of the project I had the use of a MIG welder. A TIG welder was hired to weld the chassis. I carried out all the work myself except some of the machining, paint and wiring. The following pages show the design, build and driving of the car.

go have a look

Years ago there was a Lime Green Reliant Robin (Yes, the 3-wheeled one) around that had a YB Engine (I think) and Cossie Rear wheels. I'm sure it used to do 12-second passes.

I remember there being one around 7 years ago that was a 3 wheeler with a rover engine. You had to sit int he bak to drive it and the guy put it up for sale. A couple of young lads bought it, but they didn't even make it home with it - the y brought it back cause it was too mental for them

He mentions a Ford engined Reliant Robin that he raced against at York raceway

Also at York was a Reliant Robin with a 2 litre Ford engine running very similar times so a race was quickly organised. The commentator loved it and billed it as the Battle Of The Reliants. I won, just.
Got a pic of it too

I think the Reliant Kitten is a better car - love it!

i used to have a reliant robin 850 special,,,,,, it was black so i tinted the windows, fitted a mondeo estate spoiler painted red and got a red stripe down the side,,,,,,,, but 2 capri 4 spoke wheels on the back and it looked like a special needs A team van

there wierd cars though, the reverse light was a SEPERATE switch on the dash and was very clunky in the gears and if you took a corner at 25mph the fron corner rubbed on te floor

my old man sold it to a work mates son for 300 quid as i left it at his work for about a year and never even touched it when i got bored,,,,,, the tosser sold it for 1600 a few weeks later , was tax exempt too
