Default Track your own car

Had a thought about car crime lately.

Would it be possible to devise something like tracker but for your own personal use?

Like have some sort of GPS system in your car that reports back to some sort of server, you could then see where your car is using say your home pc or with a laptop.

I know something like this wouldnt work in an underground car park but possibly it could log the last possition reported before a signal is lost.

Just an idea like.

Hi Mate, I sell systems that let you track your own vehicle
Ranging from GSM to GPS using Special forces technology that can be Battery powered or hard wired.
You can track a vehicle if its in a underground car park.
