My bro is ion the process of rebuilding his FRST but we have found a visible crack between a valve and the spark plug hole. Will this be a problem?

I would want it sorting personally but he's been told it will be fine which I find hard to swallow

 

I can't imagine that it would be OK to leave. I certainly wouldn't run it.

 

This was my feeling on it but my bro can be a little too trusting which was why I wanted to ask on here. What problems can be expected if he runs as it is?

 

I would imagine that heat will cause the crack to open up resulting in a loss of compression on that cylinder.

 

That would make sense. Just dropped him a line telling him he is a gibbon if he uses it.

When he said he was told it would be fine it rang the alarm bells

 

it may beable to be repairs but aint fucking worth it tbh


just buy another xr2i head and get it reconed, problem solved

for the price of a good 2nd hand head I'd get another and mod that
