Default External wastegate - where from?

Been having a look at external wastegates over the last few days but really seem to be struggling to find somewhere in the UK that has a comprehensive stock, reasonable prices and knows what they're talking about!

Any ideas?

Yeah, i'm going to give him a ring tomorrow - but on his website he only lists 2 and they're for pretty big power stuff - mine's only about 350bhp

Internal wastegates work fine for upto about 500 - 550 bhp
unless you want it for the bling factor.

And it will cost loads to install it !

Part of it is for the bling factor i admit - but part of it is because i think dump valves are gay and want more accurate control of boost etc.

It shouldn't cost more than about £300 though as i'm having a tubular manifold built - so to put flanges on etc. - shouldn't be much more!

Dump valves do a completely different job to a wastegate

DONT confuse the 2 !!

I know the dump valve only vents the boost when you back off the throttle whereas the wastegate vents excess boost when it reaches a pre set amount...

Dump valves aren't used for boost control, wastegates are...

Unless there's something else i'm missing?

Wastegates DONT vent boost !!!

They vent exhaust gas to bypass the exhaust housing.
(both internal and external gates do the same)

Sorry - you're absolutely right - 6 hours of driving have scrambled my brain - don't know why i thought the external wastegate was venting boost - its on the bloody exhaust manifold!
