I have a small turbo which i have run both ggr 305 and MSD chips in and to be honest they are a lot better drive on the MSD chip, much more responsive lower down the revs... I use mine every day and its a great car .

well tiff as a standard car they are nice but not very fast, so i had the GGR 305 fitted to my car, it made the car alot faster but dont think it has 305 bhp as mine had 278 bhp also fitted a uprated small turbo which made a small difference, but in the end it had to go, the small turbo cars pulls very well from low down but run out off puff at about 6 k, if you dont want any more power than about 300 max the small turbo car is a better buy than the large, also you get a better block and head and other engine bits but i whould also say that a rs focus is a better buy than that a bit more money but as an every day car it will kill the escort and you can park it up and it has less chance off being damaged or nicked

I owned a small turbo Es Cos a couple of years ago. It was a Brooklyn Ford conversion with upgraded Turbo Technics T28 and 280 BHP chip. I am sure it was actually a "Superchips" e-prom that was fitted.
Anyway, it went very well, punchy and smooth power delivery. In many ways it was the "best" Cossie I have driven in terms of how nice it felt to drive. Was impressed with the overall performance/handling package (Koni's & standard wheels with Pirelli OE tyres).

if it's Ryans car you are thinking of - i've driven it on several occassions and have to say when all is right etc it's a pleasure to drive. You could literally have it as a daily driver and when you put your foot down there is more than a satisfactory amount of power.

My car was also equipped with the "305" conversion. It made 267bhp on Harvey's engine dyno . Up to 5000rpm, it felt punchy, but above that it felt like someone had applied the handbrake.
On back-roads it was like our Scooby UK 300 (which at 260bhp runs a similar amount of power), but doesn't have the refinement of the Scooby, which despite running out of puff above 5k, pulls all the way to the limiter (just over 7k), smoothly.
So what I'm saying is, as an every day proposition, I would prefer the Scooby, but if it was weekend use only, I would like a small turbo Monte (with aircon), which I would fit big turbo intercooler (which I have in garage ), Koni's / Ahmed springs, AP 315mm 4-pots, a T3 on a 4x4 manifold and get Stu to remap it.

TIFF,
FFS..... get a grip and a life and buy either a new Scoob or EVO. They will smash one of these old tractors in to a painful death!
Failing that......
Get your arse down Warwick Museum.... I here they have a few relic's to sell off like the Escort Cossie!

Scoobies and EVO's dont really do it for me tbh
YES there are awesome cars
Yes they handle well through the twisties
Yes they can be fast
Yes the loose money faster than you can say it
Yes there are an "Easy" car to drive fast as there are all electric aids in there
Yes i think they are boring
Give me a car that YOU have to drive anyday
I know a few people who have gone the Scooby, EVO route and ALL have gone back to Cossies

Dave,
Not at all.... but imo spending the kind of money that Escorts still command is crazt, especially when much better and newer cars exist. I appreciate it's about other things than that, but having been there and worn the t-shirt soem of us have to smell the coffee and move on! :cry
Tiff,
Well..... you have been told.
You know I love the Escort's..... but I must admit I would never buy one again.
As regards to driving a car everyday.... YOU never drove the 3dr every day, so WTF are you going on about!
And..... for your information I drove the Scoob yesterday to work..... I'm surprised you didn't hear the exhaust!

I didnt drive the 3DR everyday because it would look very silly with a roof rack and a shit load of coppertube strapped to it
IF i get an Escort i WILL be using it alot more than i did the 3DR....that is one of the things i want to be able to do
As for you driving the Scoob to work.......2 words............
"On Mobile"
BUT tbh after having a good chat with Karl today i NEED to take one for a drive first i think
