Breaking serves two purposes.

1 - Helps keep the ones that are on the road alive. I have been trying to source parts for a cossie, probably about 50% are not available from Ford anymore. If I dont get them, the car would be broken so its a lose lose situation. At some point a car must be broken. You could always complain to Ford who stopped making the parts that us enthusiasts rely on to keep our cars alive.

2 - As others have said, it recoups the money. Would you sell your car for 5K less than what you could get for it by breaking it, if it kept an old Ford alive?

The more people that break them the more mine and everyone elses cossie is worth as a whole car.

The time will come when the whole car will fetch more than breaking for parts
