Why does your mates car always feel quicker,or is it just me
I own a S2 ERST and so does my mate.Mine is running at about 160bhp and his about 180bhp.I took him out for a spin in mine and had a quick burn and he thought it was quick. Then we went out in his and his seemed alot quicker but it is only 20bhp more.Is it because your sitting in the passenger seat that it feels quicker.Anyone else experianced something similar?

yeah my mate had a pulsar gtir and i know for afact mine is quicker but when we used to go out in his i used to doubt myself.but it was vice versa because when he was the passenger in my car he would always say "im going to get mine running this kind of power" crazy or what

i just think if you continually drive your car you just get used too the power and you just get to a point where you hardly notice it.You then step in someone elses and sit in the passenger sit and it hits you,and like Greg said you start doubting whether yours is pulling like is should.

It's because you're not in control of the car. Therefore it gives the illusion of being faster. Like your mate is caning at a bend and you know full well you've been round it faster but it still feels like he's going to kill you both.
It's all about control. You're not in control therefore everything seems faster.

Bikes are weird too.. My mates yz85 used to feel faster than my yz250 (even though i know my 250 was so much faster) when i rode it because it was so noisy/low to the ground and you generally had to rag the shit out of it. I used to scare myself more on that than i did on my 250

I think you get used to a car after a while, plus cars always feel quicker when you are not in control of them, when I bought my saff the lad had it sideways at a hideous speed and I crapped myself, and even when I got it back to mine it scared me for a bit, but after a while the fears go away and u know how the cars gonna react when u nail the pedal, same with my mates M3, felt unstoppable from the passenger seat, I was seriously doubting my Cossie against it but in the end there was no contest realy
Unfortunately the downside to this is that u want more power/bigger cars etc which spells trouble for the 20yr olds driving 350bhp saffs because what do they go on to next thats affordable but faster
