i have the oppurtunity to get a W reg T5 as the missis says the bora is getting to small, and my series 1 is garaged. I know it will have high miles but its very cheap can any one comment on these cars

I expect a lot of people get some bargains but after my ex-filth Senator I would never touch another pig car.

It was fucked, lots of electrical problems, smokey, generally just an abused nail.

Admittedly it was cheap but that was the only plus point

Yeah mate i've had an ex police V70 which i bought exactly 3 years old with 115000m for Ł4800 from auction, was involved in an head on RTA in it and it was writ off, i walked away while the other women was trapped in her car, i was so impressed by its performance and safety that i bought an S70 ex cop too, this time an older R reg for Ł4000 but with all the T5 power mods, R alloys etc which had 130000m on it and topped out at 165mph with the Rica ecu remap, out of the 2 i had i had no disasters etc, just keep an eye out at BCA auctions at Preston nearest you i think, or Scotland, but you could also join this forum too, excellent knowledge on there, www.volvot5.co.uk

One thing that would worry me, do the police warm the cars up before they cane it off to an emergancy?

How many times do you think they sit about with a cold engine ? Most traffic cars i see are on general patrol, tootling about, there serviced every 6 week, some forces better than others, but overall your onto a safe bet, if you dont get robbed by a dealer who will add Ł1500 to the auction price.

The traffic cars here are looked after too. They are always clean lol, must have too much time on their hands

Yea you never see a dirty cop car lol Plus you got to think whos been in the back...Like smack heads etc. If they do go in them.

The forces now rely on the manufacturers warranty to put things right.

Some do go through BCA at Preston Tangodeltasierra - but only when my mates boss has released them to go out to auction. The good ones are sold well before that stage And that includes all the plain vehicles from CID , armed response units (Kevlar doors) and the well thrashed patrol cars etc.
