computer people
why is it the longer your pc is on and surfing the net etc it slows down, like its not as quick as when its first turned on as it is if its left on all day or something. whats the reason behind this?
if there is nothing wrong with your pc and it is specced correctly this shouldnt happen. Are you running win95/98 ? earlier operating systems had bad memory management. But a fairly good modern pc with 512mb of ram and more and windows xp should be ok left on for a long time

Cos the more you surf and the more content you look and and information you download (every time you view a webpage you download info, we're not just talking about media downloads), the more your computer fills up with temp files and cookies etc.
You have folders that store temp files - script, jpegs/gif, ini files etc - these are to help windows when you revisit web pages - but the more you fill up, the more bogged down you machine will become.

No its 2.6ghz with 512ddr ram! its not so much when your actually using it, its when you go to shut it down it seems to take abit longer to do it than it does if you have it on for like 5-10mins

I'd do a search for spyware and a possible virus on your machine just to be on the safe side. Generally, your computer should startup and shutdown at the same speed, regardless of what you have done on it during the time it was on.

I would do a spyware scan as suggested aswell, and also the disk cleanup/defragment that K5SSY mentioned also
