Default Saw a Focus ST at our dealer yesterday and Im sorry but ....

I was not impressed at all, they dont have any presence about them at all, whats worrying is that it was an Orange one I was looking at and still it wasnt striking enough. The Fiesta ST that was sat next to it looked better.
Sorry to new owners of them but the Focus RS is a much nicer looking car IMO.
I appreciate the tuning potential n that , but apart from the Recaros it just looked like an Orange new shape Focus

My opinion anyway

still anyone who reads performance ford will think the FRS is a hunk of junk after PF Dave report on the new ST

It will be a serious Max power Chav motor

but joe public will love it aswell

Not keen on the ST but it'll probably grow on me over time. At least Ford are still prepared to put out fast cars in a day where if you even mention the word "speed" you are lynched by a group of right wing liberal lental eating car hating tossers

Kev, I don't hate the Focus RS at all fella - in fact I love it! It's just the ST despite not having the"correct" badge on the back is a massive step in the right direction for Ford.

Let's face it if Jost and his team didn't get what they wanted, the hottest thing we might all be talking about at the moment would be a 1.6 Fiesta and a 2.0 Focus, (obviously no offence to owners of either).

They are so close on paper, and real life that there's not much to seperate them, on the one hand you have the rawness and grin factor from the RS, on the other you have a much better build quality, ride and arguably... chassis in the ST, making it handy round a tight track.

I know which one I'd rather drive through Europe in, and I know which one I'd rather drive round say, Silverstone in...

Eveuntally the ST will be more common, But you will always get focus RS owners saying its rubbish when they know its not. How far can you tune a new ST ?

Performance Ford will be nothing without RS's best you remember that step in the right direction or easy money joe public car who wants to read about a modified volvo copies anyway

Fords attempt at the FRS just about deserves the badge but if the ST had also worn the RS badge dear lord that is a Joke I think it has the right badge but I think Ford are also putting their eggs into the wrong badge ST = Who cares RS = Has cred with both young and old

are you for real here

try and get parts for the focus RS for a start,,,, there have a good look at the BLUE LEATHER seats,,,,,,, then the clocks

there not all that tbh, yeah they got a load of nice toys to SEL the car but they aint great at all

all that work they put into it and they made a ST that it a better speced car and parts will be available OFF THE SHELF not to mention the volvo engine IS a good engine thats proven to be reliable and the volvo chassis too

the focus RS was not carrying into production for a reason,,,,,, it wasnt all that good for the money

I look at the comparison between the Focus RS & Focus St the same as the comparison between the S1 Turbo & S2 Turbo.

The S1 was built for the rawness and the S2 was more refined to suit Joe Public so to speak.

I've been out in Rob from SCC's Focus RS a couple of times and that was 328 bhp
Needless to say it flew

The Focus ST isn't an RS but it is still obvioulsy a step in the right direction for Ford rather than them not making performance cars

basically the focus RS was a large waste of money and ford realised that

the focus ST is a drivers car to attempt to get ford to actually make some sort of profit ( and trust me they need it)

btw what actuall work did the real ford boys do on the RS,,,,,,, as have of the techs aint got a clue about how they work for a start

the rs was a to remind people about ford is still about,,,,,, cause the jap car sales where KILLING ford financially

they made the ST to get a new established name to rival instead of "another wanna be attempt to better the mighty cosworth"

the ST badge is here to stay UNLESS the customers argue and they wont sell cause of a badge

but ford need to re address them selves BIG TIME and move with the times , the ST is the way

denial aint a just a place in egypt you know

i still dont like any of em tbh,,,, i actualy love the fiesta ST better but i would fit the volvo engine to is and have a PROPER beast

and it would be a 5 speed box "chucked in" cause they cant get the 6 speed to be reliable either

but the reliable 6 speed then got now

well i think you will all find out, that ford will re use the rs badge again the st will be used for main stream performance cars like the old xr was and the more radical and track minded cars will have the rs on the back and we will see an other rs badge on a focus, might not be this year but soon

ford have not even mentioned cosidering bringing back the RS yet

you heard this or you wishing and assuming that ford still have the same ideas about cars as they did in the 80's

there going skint mate and its REALLY hitting em hard, there on panic stations right now and another non selling RS aint what they want

I can tell you for a fact that Cosworth had a hand in developing the volvo 5 cylinder turbo unit used in the ST.

Cant compare the two cars IMO the Focus RS was made to see if there was still interest in the brand and to give Ford some cred. It's a great thrash/weekend car.

The ST is a mass produced car that will make a profit. It's a day to day and boy is it a good one. If i was spending my own cash on a car to do 20k miles a year in out of the two there is only one choice.....

I wouldnt mind betting that if two standard examples of a ST and an RS met on a real road, say in mid wales, then neither would put much distance on the other one.
