The later models from G onwards had power steering, but mine didn't have electric windows so not sure on that front.

Don't assume it has PAS if it's a G, make sure you ask as they didn't all have it. The BHP was 112 - 115bhp and they're fairly quick little cars for what they are.

Great fun to drive

Think they may have had electric windows and power steering after 1990, as they made them like the 16v's so had big bumpers also

My dad has a H reg 3 door black one. Has got PAS, but not electric windows. Is a nice car and is quite quick. I prefer the valvers in oak green with bbs. some of the last ones has electric windows, leather interior, and air con!. how nice would that be.

8v were around 112bhp and the 16v 139bhp, but the early k jet injection 8v cars were slightly quicker than the digifant big bumper later 8v. however to find a mint early 8v with small bumpers is getting dificult

As i said just curious really, id love to own one, either 8 or 16v.

Just followed a nice black g-reg one on the way home from work yesterday afternoon, looked very nice, 17s by the looks of it, pretty low,
twin exhaust and smoked rear clusters, not the chav kind though!

Nice cars

P.s if anyones got any nice pictures of mk2 gti's then please post them up

I had an Oak Green MK2 16v. Proper lovely motors if looked after.

Had a flowed head and 4 branch manifold which gave me 135 bhp at the wheels. Quite quick

Then i sold it to get my cossie

i used to have an F plate 16v golf.
it had , Electric windows , central locking electric sunroof and a full Grey leather interior & power steering. cracking motor, handles great . mine was originaly owned by one of the vw dealership managers , hence the electric pack and grey leather, lots that I seen were black leather. usually they are pretty solid ,Zeibarted from new
if you get the chance of one , go for it .
