Default lcd tv problem

i went and bought philips ambi-light lcd tv today

i seem to have a problem with it tho

when i turn it on it will only stay for 5 mins then it
turns itself off and it wont come back on unless i turn the main
plug on and off

then when it does actually stay on for more than 5 mins if i try to
change the channel with the remote control it just automatically turns itself off

i have checked all the plugs and leads and they are in the correct places

has anyone else had a similar problem

and help will be much appreciated

Steer away from Phillips or Sony.

LG , Sharp , Hitatchi are good bets.

Especially the Sharps ending in GD7E

I'm not to sure about phillips because i work with Sony's but try this. When the tv turns off check the standby light, Does it flash ? If it does its a fault with the set and giving the engineer a fault code to help them find the problem. If it was a brand new set (not ex display) then the factory default setting would not be set to turn off in 5 mins as every1 would be complaining about the same problem. Hope this helps.

Regards Daryl

LG uses philips LCD panels, lol.

There not that many LCD panel manufacturers.

Your set is probably faulty.
