i've got all the max powers up until about 2000
then i was too embaressed to buy them

intresting to see how much they would cost, then again, they are nowhere as good as practical performance car, some of which have gone for upwards of Ł25 per issue (and now they don't flog them on ebay anymore as i only need 2 copies )

hay stop dissing max power!

yes im 20, yes i love fast cars, but that doesnt mean im a twocing boy racer! when i buy my escort off this site within the next few weeks IT WILL BE T & T & HAVE FULLY COMP INSURANCE, so not all young drivers that read max power are the ones that congregate in a md's car park!

for your infomation the only cruises/meets ive been to are the ford & max power nights at the ace cafe! me and my mates do not promote doing handbreak turns in your local park or racing around populated streets!

so please do not get things twisted!

Actually, I threw them all out in our last move - I saw this thread and briefly started panicking, thinking I had thrown out a fortune's worth, as I had every single one (and in a binder) until 2000 (when I decided I had to stop buying them just to have the full set ) .

However, I do still have every Performance Bikes since 1984, every PF and FF since 1994 and every single Evo magazine full stop . I also have a room in the house (my office) converted as my magazine library and they are all on shelves .

Why is everyone knocking those first issues of Max Power - you only wish they had such god articles today!

IIRC, the one with the Mk2 on the front, was a cossie powered Escort, a RWD converted hatch thrash, a techincal write up on CVH head porting, and loads of motorsport news.

Was very good back in those days, when Vicky Butler-Henderson was writing for them.

I too threw all my old ones out, but still have a huge collection of PF, FF (all from 1998), EVO (bar first six issues), Which Kit and Kit Car from 2000.

Some of the articles in the 1st couple of years of Max Power were good.

When did REVS come out. That was also quite a good mag back in the day

The first issue of REVS contained 50% of the same content as the Max Power of that month. Don't call that good at all.

Didnt the first one also come with a bright orange key ring ?

It was good, but fast car was even better - good tech articles from Dave Vizard (sp ?)
