lol, i never knew that about the other wires, when ever i've needed another phone line i've used a two-way socket and an extension lead, didn't know there was a proper way of doing it!
if i connected another phone line up would i be able to use both phones at once? or is it juts a more professional way of doing the old two-way adapter & extension lead trick.

right hopefully this may help you.....
the line should come into your property on a cable with the following...
WHITE & ORANGE
GREEN & BLACK
the dial tone will be on the WHITE & ORANGE
OR on a older cable with just 2 wires...
or on the internal cable with the 6 wires with the color code..
BLUE & BLUE/WHITE.... (2&5)
ORANGE & ORANGE/WHITE... (3.. OTHER NOT NEEDED)
GREEN & GREEN/WHITE
so if the internal cable feeds your main box (nte5) then you will connect the BLUE & BLUE/WHITE..
OR THE CABLE FROM OUTSIDE... WHITE & ORANGE..
any wires fitted from the nte on the ext plate.. ( in your first picture) will run using the 3 wires.. the 3rd wire is the bell wire to make the phone ring as ext boxes do not have a capacitor..
the are connected as follows...
2.... BLUE...
5.... BLUE/WHITE
3.... ORANGE
Hopefully this will help you in some way...

I'm a BT Engineer,oops Openreach now as from yesterday.
My wife is a comms manager in BT & meets all the big wigs, Pierre Danon & Steve Robertson who is now in charge of the whole of Openreach, made me laugh because she was talking to him the other week & i don't how but she mentioned that i had a 3dr Cossie & how she hated it
Steve Robertson said ah my mate used to have one & i think their well cool. How good is that, the bloke in charge of the whole of field service (Openreach ) likes Cossies, he's gone up in my estimation

after looking at this link i finally got my cordless phones and answerphone to work.....stupid BT engineer had wired A and B back to front.......2 bloody wires and he got it wrong.....not a person youd want as a "phone a friend" on who wants to be a millionaire!!!!

think they r kicking me back out on the tools bout march i think lol

We have old style box in my moms bedroom- she is having new fitted wardrobes and has informed me its in the way and needs moving.
So.. what do I need to do.
Its a white box sort of rectangle shapped but with curved edges.
In side there are 6 terminals which are 2 top, 2 middle and 2 bottom.
Theyre wired up..
Blue BLANK
Green Brown
Orange BLANK
Any ideas what I need to buy, where from and what to do when I have it?

if you are moving it backwards then cut the wiring back and reattach otherwise you will need to lengthen with some more wiring in that case just go like for like at both ends and all should be groovy
