Have i fooked my clutch???
Driving it today, giving it beans to drop the missus off & on the way back to mine, while in 4th & 5th she seems to be slipping?!?!?!
Taking it easy, trying to come on boost nice & easy but once she's passed 1bar ish all hell breaks loose up to 1.9 with no power...............Never had a clutch go on me this is why i'm asking.
Also the pedals sitting a good inch about the other 2, is it a self adjusting clutch on escorts??
Fooking Fords
Still can't understand why it only does it in 4th & 5th though Surely 1st through to 3rd would be a more sharsh on the clutch??
Anyone?

I've read somewhere that the standard clutch mechanism can cause problems with uprated clutches when they don't adjust properly??
Something about them causing the clutch to drag on the flywheel

what clutch is it
i had an alcon 6 paddle and it lasted 6000 miles and started to slip in 4th and 5th but ok in the rest of gears
it also scraped my flywheel
heard the best solution is to have a hydraulic clutch fitted with a paddle clutch which is what im doing nxt time and going to get martyn aat reyland to fit the hydraulic set up
also a bonus as the cltch cable wont melt anymore either

Looks like i know what i'll be ding tomorrow morning then!
Dan
Not sure fella, Gadget had it for a year but never put that much mileage on it. Seem to remember seeing paperwork for new box & clutch in 2004?!?!?
Stick with an ERST Dan..........Much cheaper & easier to work on!

Try leaving it to cool, then take it for a blast, you could have just cooked it, did it a couple of times on my std clutch which was NEW...
Also behind the heatshield where the cable goes into the bulkhead, pull the big plastic bit as hard as you can out of the bulkhead, then let it pop back into the bulkhead....
I Launched away from the essex meet once, properly sidestepped the clutch and all the way home did what you describe, the next morning id did the above, took it for a spin and all was fine.. try it

Ditch the cable and go hydraulic, you won't regret it. If you want a kit fitting let me know.. bonus is you could get any clutch parts changed at the same time, labour free!

Franco,
Price for supply only is on my website, I "think" Martin charges Ł2-300 labour (best to ask him though), but that includes fitting a new clutch FOC (clutch is not supplied free though ).
Would say that it almost pays for itself within two clutches, as it extends the life by almost double.

Also your clutch will not have nice feel to it compared with a hyd one. MikeR will agree with this I am sure.
