I didn't have any problems for quite some time either but I had a cable snap when I was competing against another car at a Revs day and ended up loosing because of it. That was the end of clutch cables with heavy duty clutches for me. Didn't Rods car suffer with a cable failing too?

Also your clutch will not have nice feel to it compared with a hyd one. MikeR will agree with this I am sure.
