who has got an s8 and who mapped it?
if you mapped it yourself how did you get on?
especially with using the narrowband control switched on
i need mine mapped by the end of Jan for a magazine feature
who would you recommend to do it?
or anybody got any s8 maps they did themselves i can take a look at?
and please don't turn this into a post dissing s.e.c.s , i have never had a problem with simon, all my technical enquiries got answered fast by him
cheers

ive started to map a s8 car,, but the builder of the car had a few problems with the pick-ups he made so i had to stop!
really like the system,, nice and easy, and straight forward
havent wired the lambda into the ecu yet

Ive only "played with" mapping mine, not done it fully yet, but as gareth says, its very easy to use.
Simon (SECS) will map for a fee i believe, but im not certain, and as Doug says Karl knows his way around S8 and is obviously a VERY well respected mapper in the cossie world.
I would try Karl first if i were you mate

When using any type of system using lambda sensors as on ANY ecu,
you must map the car first THEN enable the lambda band control.
This is because the ecu needs something to fall back on
should the sensor fail and also it is a base map that will be
corrected by the ecu using the sensor.
This is true for both narrow and wide band sensor ecu's.
The S8 lambda control default settings should work fine
once you have mapped the car, just enable the feature.
Only should the idle hunt will you need to adjust the
loop time values.
Currently the S8 ONLY supports narrow band lambda BUT
there is a new windows software upgrade which will include
many new features such as WIDE BAND closed loop, ALS,
data logging etc.. (Upgrade free

Looking forward to this upgrade simon, sounds the tits
Good point to mention about the lamda, i know people who have relied on it and not got a decent base map under it, one of them had a sensor failure and didnt even make it home
(not on s8, on dta)

GARETH T, The Original,
I have a PROVISIONAL version ready for BETA testing, works on ALL
versions of windows and uses serial ports and/or USB for the ecu interface.
Plus allows you to create a graphical customised dash with virtual gauges.
I will post up a link to my web server later this week although some
features are disabled at the moment as I have not completed my
final tests.....
... Once I have done some work for Stu

Previous owner was his neighbour!

Been a struggle this year for me one way or another but this product
is my baby and I will always continue to evolve it.
May make some money out of it one day
The software had to be upgraded due to Microsofts anti DOS and serial port
policy which for me is a sad thing being brought up on them
Now added features that make it comparable to the higher spec rivals
but much cheaper.
Hopefully, if all goes to plan
During this month I will have a new
set up for ecu manufacture like the ecu monitors are made now
so removing all my day to day headaches with improved sales support
and a new improved price.
If anyone has any SERIOUS suggestions for features/modifications
they would like to see, now is the time to speak up.

Mentioned a few features but here are a few more details....
MULTIPLE MAPS SWITCHING EXPANDED TO 16.
You could have upto 16 completely different set ups in ONE ecu
and change them at a flick of a switch while running.
(Can be configured to not switch unless stopped first)
Current version only allows 2 complete set ups.
CLOSED LOOP BOOST
Fully PID controlled closed loop boost control.
Using air injectors or high speed valve.
Currently only allows mapped boost percentage levels.
CLOSED LOOP WIDE BAND LAMBDA
As title with autotune for mapping.
Using independant wideband sensor or external wideband such as
tech edge etc...
ALS
As above. Been available for a while but never released software.
DATA LOGGING
Upto 1 megabytes in ecu storage. (flash memory)
(about 30 to 100 minutes depending on configuration}
Unlimited logging (subject to hard disk size) if online with PC.
Data playback via excel and/or powerpoint.
IMOBILISER/ANTI HIJACK FEATURE
Cant say too much here to keep it secure
FULL SUPPORT FOR EEC4 EQUIPED CARS
Allows retro fitting to these cars on existing wiring loom and sensors
with ease.
(Except map sensor of OFAC which will need replacing)
SUPPORT FOR FULLY SEQUENTIAL COIL PER PLUG
As above.
WINDOWS DASHBOARD
Allows you to create a customised dashboard display on your laptop
with virtual dials etc...
For the future......
DRIVE BY WIRE THROTTLE
Will be installed on my car during the summer for testing..
Dont know if it will give me any actual benefits yet but will look
good if nothing else
All software upgrades will be free and 99% of ecu's out there already
can take advantage of these when available and can be uploaded
by yourself.

At least you are consistant Phil

Why dont you do the thread starter a favour though and respect his wish for this NOT to turn into a slagging off post?
Just for once remember that pasisonford doesnt exist for you, it exists despite you
Phil,
Thanks for your kind input, I will BTTT all your threads and comments
you made previously about the ecu and all were positive until I caught
you out trying to pass off Karls mapping as your own work.
I have saved the pages just in case someone conveniently edits them

Ok, here is a sneak preview of the windows version of the new S8 software.
UNFORTUNATELY, you wont see much unless you are connected to an S8
and even then you need an upgrade to access all features but this
wont be released until I am ready in the very near future.
For existing users, this will NOT upgrade any software you have
or permit any changes to your ecu maps (deliberate lock out) but allows
you to go online to the ecu IF your software version currently allows it.
This is more of a data link test version as it allows connection to all
windows com ports however they are configured.
The com port issue is probally THE main technical complaint most people
has fed back to me about the existing PC software.
You should be able to log on and display live data at the very least !!!
If you try it on your S8, please lete me know how you got on
with all details of...
Windows version,
Com port set up (Should work on USB to serial converters now
)
Here is the link...
http://www.s8ecu.co.uk/S8win.zip
This will need unzipping - No special installation requirements needed.
When the final upgrade is available, Most users will be able to perform
the new software installtion by themselves without even opening
up the ecu at all or the need to remove it from the car.
*** I should point out, this is all aimed at EXISTING users of this product.
The ecu is currently not available as a new manufacturer is in the
process of being set up. I cant give a date at this point in time as it
is out of my hands.

Look ok to me at first glance.
would have been nicer if the background file was a .jpg in the same directory though, so its changeable?
But thats splitting hairs.
Blimey, looks like that tosser Phil is getting better
he was wrong in RECORD TIME this time
