Just wondered if anyone that was there noticed the white MK2 Golf GTI on road legal slicks going round, it absolutely flew and was keeping up with Marco at one point! .............Wouldn't mind knowing what was in that thing, it was a beast!

The other car that looked quick as hell was a Red Mk2 XR2 on 3dr rims, that thing was bloody stupid fast around aswell, anyone own it on here or know about it?

yes i did and marco spoke to him afterwards as he was quite shocked.

the bloked tried fobbing marco off saying it was 200bhp 16v lump, but i think we all know it was a bit more than that.

the red fiesta is 1600 turbo wid about 200 bhp well it was when it was in the mag a few years ago very fast car

Golf was very quick, the owner logged on the site for a quick chat earlier in the week. as did the Seat owner

Fiesta also very fast but he doesn't look in his mirrors alot, he almost punted me off the Track at Trax twice last year.

I got told it was 16 valver as well. Also told the seat was round 350 bhp was a very trick little car.

Talking of people not using there mirrors was a red datsun came straight out into our path at 120ish.

That cav as well looked prett quick.

i was passenger in marco's car when he was battling with that golf.

the golf was very impressive

don't forget the golf was on proper slicks and marco was on normal road tyres

And according to my super accurate nokia stopwatch was actually faster than Bruce's 500 last year most of the time. though i think bruce just managed fastest lap.

Something else that I was pleased to see there was the A1 rally sport's Escort cossie with the black twin headlights, went bloody well......has this been sold to someone private now?

Marco sells more slicks than anyone in the country and STILL uses that as his excuse

Maybe he spilt some on his slick tyres before the session too

I think the guy's name is Ian Bartlett? He posts on here as ianb and he goes to Castle Combe a lot- his car was featured in VW Driver mag a while back which gave the full development and engine spec of the car. It was about 200bhpish when it was in the mag but maybe more now? I don't know but I'm sure he'll tell you if you PM him - I wouldn't be surprised if he's on the clubgti board or similar.
He's not a bad driver and as you know it takes a lot of bhp to make a difference over someone in a 200bhpish well set up hatch.I think he was running AO32Rs??
